Sean and Herby were amazing! We had older maple floors that were in pretty tough shape when we purchased our new home. They restored, stained, and refinished the floor beautifully! They truly care about the final product, and were passionate about making it look amazing. They worked around the Christmas holiday over a tight schedule, and communicated with us very well. A few weeks later I let some tape fall on the floor by accident and it affected the finish. Sean came out and just took care of it and wouldn't accept more money. It's the kind of local business I feel great about recommending

They did everything they could to do the job right, and they did an absolutely beautiful job.

Did sanding first day, and followed with 3 days of sealing. They tried to seal the cabinet areas and closing doors to stop the dust. However it didn't work. Saw dust was everywhere. The walls needed to be wiped down, base boards, cabinets, etc. Basically the entire place.
Their work was great but the clean up not. However, they did come back and clean up, which was greatly appreciated.
Just be sure when you hire them that you discuss their finish work. I didn't realize that I was suppose to clean up, I though that would be part of the job.

We had exposed slab in half of our house, and a preexisting engineered hardwood floor in the rest. We needed to get the whole thing in within a couple of weeks to complete our refinancing. (We locked our refi rate without knowing that the floors had to be in first!)
Herb and Sean found a reasonably close match and matched the best price we had found for the materials. I could tell from the way they measured the floor together how seamlessly they work as a team, and I noticed they didn't miss some of the details that other contractors missed when they measured (e.g. they didn't neglect to measure the spot where our big-a** fridge sits).
These guys were recommended to us by another contractor whose work we really appreciated, and we got a sortof and quot;familyand quot; feeling like we'll be able to work well with them, and I told them that was why I was picking them. I checked their references, and they were all glowing. So we went with them.
One big thing was that they included the cost of grinding and leveling the floors in their fixed quote. The other contractor I almost hired was going to charge $85/sq foot for that work. When it turned out that after demo'ing the kitchen floor, there was an extra day of grinding and leveling work -- Sean said and quot;I just gotta eat that, that's my risk.and quot; A deal is a deal, and they didn't even blink about that.
I watched them line up the wood down the long hall -- probably a 40 foot run down the hall and into the master bath. The wood appears to be perfectly straight. They were completely methodical and anal about this, and the result looks perfect, in all of the rooms. I checked in on them daily, and at one point I noticed some gouges in the newly installed floor in the pantry. I pointed it out, and Sean said and quot;yeah, I don't know how that happened, but we can patch it up so it won't show.and quot; Afterwards I was staring at that spot, up close, and i don't know what they did but the gouges are not visible *at all*.
Another thing that happened was some of the wood had darker grain. We counted the boards, and it appeared that it was about 10% of the boards. We discussed it, and decided to put that wood all in the closets instead of mixing it in. There was one of those darker boards already installed in the kitchen, with the glue half set. We discussed, and I said I'm sorry, but can we replace that board? They said no problem, and tore out a bunch of boards and replaced that one. They really do shoot for a perfect result.
I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat!

Sean and his partner did an excellent job. They conducted themselves professionally and did all their work on time. After an initial visual assessment confirmed that our floors were in good shape, they brought in the new oak to be used in the kitchen, and allowed it to acclimatize for 2 weeks. They then sanded the floors and found that they were, in fact, in great shape. We chose our stain and they continued with their work. In total, the sanding and staining took about 3-4 days. My wife and I were not living in the house yet, so we were able to let it dry for a few days after that. Sean and his partner are both very cool guys who know floors very well. I highly recommend them.
