Response from Frofix Home Improvements
"Just wanted to set the record straight with the truth. Most of the statements he has written are lies. This customer (who wrote two reviews that were done as one job) prides himself on scamming contractors. We gave an estimate and when we started working, he began pridefully informing us about how he received extensive amounts of work done for free by threatening and deceiving contractors. We had already committed to the estimate and as we run our family company on integrity, we completed all the work that was on our estimate. When the work was completed, he wanted us to do extra work that was not on the estimate. When we reviewed the estimate with him, he claimed that the additional work should have been on the estimate and that we should do it for free. We refused and he paid us. The next day he stopped payment on the check for the work that we completed. In order to retaliate, he has fabricated numerous outrageous accusations. We used safe and approved cleaners (TSP) to clean his walls. No contractor would use Zippo lighter fluid to clean..really? We used specialty primer as he had us painting varnish coated paneling and... we never met his mother or saw her. We gave an estimate, completed the contracted work, and left as quickly possible while he was busy refusing to pay a landscaper."

The.The owner, Saralyn, was requested a quote for the aforementioned services, and she & her husband, Andrew, came to my home & I explained what I wanted done, and after verbally noting the laundry room walls were paneled it would require "special" primer paint that is more costly, but would be no problem. She then promised a written quote within a few days. approximately 2 or 3 weeks later they left a message with a neighbor that they would be back in town and will come by.
Saralyn showed up with the estimate and promised to come back with a color chart to chose what color I wanted. Again she showed up apologizing for not coming back as promised.
I gave her the color chart back and told her the color I wanted. She said she'd be back in 2 days and then 4 days later, again with her attempt to disarm any frustration with laughing and not so funny humor they would be ready to start.
She showed up with her son, Steven, but said her husband was held up on another job, but would be here soon. She provided a second quote, I didn't know about to my mother, who didn't realize there was any change to the original, and didn't let me know.
She stated that all surfaces, "of course have to be washed and then let dry for a day, then they would apply the primer." I told her I had a new box of TCP, which she said is what is best to use before painting walls. I came into the room where her son was washing the walls with a can of Zippo lighter fluid and a rag. I questioned that and asked why not use the "free TCP" I was offering and their response was this is just as good and went on working. I later took a cloth with isopropyl alcohol & wiped part of a wall (they were away for lunch) & when I showed them, upon their return, the soiled cloth, Saralyn said "...you really don't even need to clean the walls when using this primer. It is that good..." She and her son completed applying the primer and her husband said he was just going to cap the pipes off under the sink instead of from under the house as originally agreed. I said No. I want it out of the cabinet for storage. He continued to balk & said it was going to cost more and went into more & more double talk. I told him to forget removing the sink and just do the rest of the work on the order. Saralyn said Andrew would be back to look at front door work she apologized for forgetting to put on the original order/quote. She had a note of $75. For painting the hand rail at back porch as part of the $1005.00 quote. I told her forget that & just finish what they were doing. I'd had enough of her continued attempts to laugh her way into my wallet any further.
The work they completed, not close to originally requested, cost $1008.00. This is minus the removal work being done, no painting of hand rail & using my paint for the door frames, that they were originally going to supply.
Half the job and higher cost in the end.

They were very responsive and friendly. It was a couple who come; husband and wife. We have been very pleased with their services. I would recommend them to others very highly. Their price was certainly less than what we had paid other people.

It was a good experience working with this company. We have had them do other plumbing jobs for us. They are always who we call for any plumbing issues. They do what they can to help us save money. It's a husband and wife team, Sara Lynn and Andrew.
