Nathan did an aswesome job. He is a perfectionist. I have used him before from a prior leak under a kitchen sink. I live out of state , which is very stressful to trust someone to repair sheetrock, remediate mold, rebuild the heater stand which was soaked through and point out issues on my behalf. He provided me with photos each stap of the way, explaining everything he did. He and his crew did a beautiful job with the finish on the sheetrock matching the existing and even had to get some paints to match the existing colors on the walls. He came over the next day after I called him to review the damage. More prompt then "real" doctors!

Nathan was professional, knowledgeable, and very easy to work with. He was able to respond quickly to address the issue with minimal disruption to the occupant - very considerate. Repairs included drying out walls, replacing drywall, sealing concrete, removing and reinstalling built-in and painting.

He told me that the job was too small, and that the painters would have to paint a larger area to make the job "worthwhile". The estimate did not include the cost of re-finishing the wood floor, because again, the refinisher wouldn't do the job unless the whole first floor was done--and this did not include a price for that service, either. No one has to work for me, I understand, but profit is profit, whether the job is large or small. I assume the subcontractors have profit built into their bids, and I know Mr. Suazo had profit built into his overall bid. So, I fail to understand why my job, however small, is not "worthwhile", since the profit will still be there. Mr. Suazo and his team probably do an excellent job, and I do appreciate his willingness to come out and give me an estimate. But, it seems foolish to pay for more than I need, just so the contractors think the job is "worthwhile."
Response from Flood Doctor Restoration & Construction

"Apparently "no good deed goes unpunished" in the social media and construction estimating world. I pride myself on my professionalism and high quality standards and a "C" rating on my professionalism is unwarranted especially if you never hired me to experience the high quality service and professionalism that I can deliver. Please check the other reviews prior to this review and the future reviews of clients who have actually hired me and my company. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] has misquoted me! She was complaining that nobody wanted to bid on her project because it's so small and and I chimed in "yes a lot contractor's don't want to do small jobs but we do small jobs (with a smile)". She also stated that one man did come out to look at the job but never gave her a bid...but I gave her a bid, I delivered. Actually, since I was the first to give her a bid, I gave her a benchmark for future bidders. Furthermore, I would never downgrade a person's home or size of the project, we've completed several projects, small and large. We are currently doing a $3000 project for an attorney in Encinitas and just completed a $3200 project in Carlsbad. These projects are even smaller in scope than Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s project. As far as the refinishing of the hardwood floor goes, I agree with my hardwood refinisher. He stated that every time they only sand the affected area (20 x 2 in this case ) instead of the entire floor, they end up coming back to refinish the whole floor for free. A judge once told me when I was working in his house, that just because someone asked you to perform the job incorrectly doesn't mean you should do it that way. A contractor should perform the project the correct way or in the court of law the contractor is going to lose for not stepping up to the plate and doing it the correct way even if it means performing the task for free. We are California licensed general contractors and floor covering contractors, and we pride ourselves on doing high quality workmanship with strong professional and communication skills that include on time and realistic completion schedules. We will not perform substandard workmanship in the name of trying to save money and cutting corners."

Nathan was amazing. The work was done promptly and professionally. He kept me informed at every step of the process, dealt with insurance adjustors, answered questions, and double checked everything. He has an eagle eye for detail and made sure all the finishing touches were just right. He has continued to be of enormous help as a resource on other house-related questions, even after his contract is completed. I can't say enough positive about him. We feel very grateful to have found him on Angie's List when we were in crisis.

First, Flood Doctor is the most professional and accomplished company I have ever dealt with in my 68 years. Starting with the owner Nathan Suazo, Jack his lead assistant, and then down to all his other workers, there is an extremely obvious desire for their work to be the best and completely satisfy the customer. I have never seen such passion to do outstanding work!! For example, his painter painted a room and it looked fine to us. Mr. Suazo came by and made the painter return to get the room perfect. They are so trustworthy that we allowed them to put the house on a lock box and have free run of the house when we were away for several days. I can tell you that I am extremely paranoid about those things and basically trust virtually no one outside of my family. Their work was timely and Mr. Suazo went out of his way to help so many times that I lost count. Several examples are: coming to the house when the insurance adjuster came out to ensure that the adjuster gave us fair and complete compensation for all repairs; installing new door handles and lighting plates at no charge for labor when he noticed they were old or tarnished; bringing tile samples to us several times and then going to a show room to help us select new tile; and many other extra efforts too numerous to list. Bottom line: I give this company the highest recommendation possible

Nathan was so helpful with getting my house back together and even more importantly assisted with navigating my dispute with the insurance company. The asbestos mitigation through insurance was not completed adequately and Nathan ensured that it was and that my family was protected. This would not have occurred but for Nathan's assistance. I am so fortunate to have found him and so happy with all of his work. He takes pride in his work and always ensured that my house was clean and respected. I would recommend him to anyone who finds himself or herself with water damage. He values his clients and wants to ensure that they have a positive experience and are happy with the end product. The thing that stands out to me the most is Nathan's level of customer service, which is second to none.

Nathan (the owner) is top notch in his quality of work and his customer service. I originally contacted him on a Sunday night. He showed up the next day to take care of the water emergency, he was forthright on how much it would cost, and we stayed in touch every day while on the job, giving me updates along the way. I can honestly say it was the best experience I've had working with a contractor. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

Having been through a similar situation before, I wasn't crazy about independently finding and contracting each trade person for flood/mold, drywall, plumbing, flooring, etc. Flood Doctor caught my eye as being a general contractor for construction as well as being certified for flood and mold remediation. Nathan Sauzo was always proactive in his communications and prompt with his appointments. He took full ownership of the job from negotiating with the insurance company to sub-contracting each required trade person. When one guy threw away the shower existing doors, Nathan credited me for a new pair. When a plumber didn't install the new shower faucet correctly, Nathan swooped in on New Year's Eve to finish the job. He also did a great job working with my tenants who were studying for finals. The overall job went well with the bathroom looking better than new. I lost an upper kitchen cabinet in the process, but used the opportunity to open up that space and add some shelving in a cupboard. Because of his containment efforts and use of plastic sheeting on the floors, the clean-up effort was minimal and left the rest of the place looking great as well. He did a great job and really earned an "A" rating.

He was going to be cheaper but it was not data or evidence based so we didn't end up using him. I expected that his assessment was going to be more evidence based, and it wasn't. It was just him eyeballing it and saying that there was no mold in it, and that wasn't good enough for me.

Nathan was professional, thorough, friendly, personable, and fairly priced. We have already used his services again for other random house issues that needed fixing and to inspect our Home Depot flooring installation. He is our new go to general contractor!

During all of this he was punctual and adhered to my schedule. The work was finished on the agreed upon date. He listened to my needs and provided opinions on the best way to complete the tasks. Best of all, the house was clean at the end of every day of work. The Flood Doctor is very conscientious of the work done by his company. He stands by his word. I will be hiring him to do further work on my house. I highly recommend the Flood Doctor for mold inspection and remediation

When I called and left a message, they did not return it, wasting my time. If they called and talked to me and gave me an explanation of why they didn't contact me, I would consider using them.

Nathan did the estimate/ testing earlier this year. In April I called and scheduled a time to have the work performed. That was very easy and he was great. He not only got rid of the mold, but since it was growing into some old cabinets that I've always hated, he ripped those out as well per my request. It took several days to dry out the area, but I couldn't be happier with his work, his professionalism, and his price. My neighbor asked what was happening in my garage, and he remembered paying $4,000 for a similar job up in laguna beach. I would absolutely use nathan again if I ever needed to. Always punctual, helpful, and pleasant to have in my home.

I used the Flood Doctor on a $39 mold inspection Big Deal from Angieslist.com.  He came in and did a thorough inspection and later gave me a detailed breakdown of his investigation and provided me a line item breakdown for repair.  His rates were the most reasonable I could find in my area.

I hired him to replace my bathroom faucet and washer/dryer bibs in the laundry room.  Eventually, I had him do additional work.  Nathan wears many hats so he is well qualified to tackle any job you may have. In addition to being a licensed flood/mold specialist, he is also a licensed plumber, licensed general contractor and flooring contractor (just to name a few).

Working with Nathan was a breeze. .I always looked forward to seeing him. He was never MIA. He always arrived on time or called if he was delayed. He was easy to communicate with, was a good listener and problem solver. He always aimed to please.  He took me shopping to several wholesaler stores to select flooring. I didn’t expect him to do that

He was always conscientious about the quality of his workmanship. He treated me like his favorite niece and did the job like he would do for a family member…with a lot of pride.   I know Nathan stands behind his workmanship 100%.  I was in good hands with Nathan. Everything turned out beautifully!!!  I would definitely hire Nathan again.

Nathan and his team provide our family a complete overhaul of our living room and hall area.  He remove the old carpet and asbestos tile. Completed the abatement and had our house inspected and certified to be asbestos clear. Once that was completed he managed the moisture test required for wood, hardwood and expensive vinyl flooring installation. He also leveled the floor, installed the flooring and installed new base board molding and ensured all work was completed on time and excellent. '

Nathan and his team's are grade A and you can not go wrong with Nathan the Flood Doctor for Asbestos, Mold, and any contractor work you need completed.  He is the best we have had and after his service he is an extended member of our family
