He did not do the work himself, but had a crew of imbeciles who did very shoddy, sloppy work, and who did not follow directions.  He was also asked to do some removal of 2 very small trees which had grown up under the hedge.  He was asked to dig them so that they could be re-planted.  He dug one up without even trying to save it, and just threw it away. He completely left the other.  On one side, he was asked to take the hedge down to the level of the house next door.  His worker trampled plants and bushes near the base of the hedge.  His worker butchered the hedge by starting much lower, so he left a big gaping hole in the hedge.  I was paying for this work, and got permission from my neighbors on the other side to take the hedge between our properties down to the top of the fence.  I told them I would also pay for the hedge on their side to be trimmed even and cleaned up.  My neighbors were not home at the time of the work, but gave permission to enter their back yard to do the work.  When they got home they called me over to see, and were very upset because their hedge was chopped almost completely bare.  They also did a very bad job of cleanup.  I had to finish raking and pulling chopped branches from my hedges.

They completed the work on time.  When the construction company said that the stump had not been ground down far enough they cam back and dug further at no additional charge.

We had an area on our patio containing bamboo that I'd recently cut down and removed leaving a plot of dirt filled with stumps and roots. Ed's guys used their stump grinder to break apart all the dirt and roots and hauled it away.  We also had them cut down and haul out a Chinese Elm from the back yard.  None of the job was terribly complicated and it was definitely grunt work.  His guys are very strong and got the job done in the estimated time.  They put everything back and cleaned up the place nicely.  And Ed cleaned up a couple other trees while he was here which was nice.  We'll definitely have him back when it comes time to trim back the cedar on our property.

Ed came over to review what I wanted done with one tree on our property and with trees from our neighbor's yard. He provided an on the spot estimate, was very flexible about when the work was scheduled and was able to work me in within 2 days of the initial estimate. They did a great job overall, including clean up after the fact. I'd definitely use him again and recommend him as well.

Though it sometimes takes Ed a while to get back with you, he is on it once you are on his calendar. His pricing is very fair and he and his crew do a great job. Walter Anderson's Nursery refers him. I am kind of picky about tree trimming and he lets me okay every cut so my tree comes out the way i want it. When one of my bushes started growing again from under the fence, he came back out and removed it with no hassle or charge. A few years ago he removed some stumps and planted three tree and I was surprised at his great pricing for the amount of work he did. I recommend Ed for tree services.

I called this company because they have a business office near my home and they have been in business in San Diego a long time. I wanted to support the neighborhood business in University Heights. I called and left a message. Call was returned promptly. Scheduled the work at a convenient day and time for me. They arrived on time, reviewed with me the work to be done, they started and completed the work as planned. They left the yard and sidewalk clean.

We recently had Ed come to the house to discuss pruning some immature trees and solicit his advice for trees that were not growing as expected. This was the second time he had provided a service for us. The first was 4 years ago when he removed several Eugenia shrubs and grinded down the roots. Both times he was courteous and did a fantastic job. This is a guy who really knows and cares about trees and his customers.

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH EVERYTHING THAT HE DID. HE WAS ORIGINALLY THERE JUST TO TRIM THE TREE BUT ENDED UP TAKING IT OUT BECAUSE HE FOUND OUT THAT THE TREE WAS CRACKED. HE WAS WILLING TO DO, AT THE SAME TIME, HE DID TWO OTHER JOBS THAT I HADN'T TALKED TO HIM BEFORE. HE DIDN'T INSIST THAT I PAY THE WHOLE AMOUNT RIGHT THEN. (I ORIGINALLY CONTRACTED HIM JUST TO TRIM I WASN'T SURE THAT I HAD THE MONEY TO PAY THE TOTAL AMOUNT.) HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL IN ALL HIS DEALINGS WITH ME.
