We contacted Eco Minded Solutions to design our landscaping project after seeing their work in San Diego magazine and on their website.  We wanted a contemporary, clean design.  Barry met with us multiple times while we worked out the design.  He listened to our preferences, incorporating them into the design.  We loved the design and, although the first bid was high, Barry met with us multiple times and worked with his design team to identify savings, reducing the cost to our target. 
The project start date was delayed by 2-3 weeks due to homeowner change requests on a prior project, but we?d rather wait than have the divided attention of a crew working on multiple jobs.  Barry?s partner, Dave, expertly managed our project and our onsite foreman, Ever, with his hard-working crew were at work 7:30 every morning until our project was completed.  We liked that the same crew worked the entire month long project.  Ever is friendly, very pleasant to work with and attended to every
detail.
The workmanship of our new fence, patio and walkway is excellent and the quality of the design and materials is first rate.  Our 4 change requests during the project were immediately quoted and incorporated into the plans during the project with no
problem.  We had some plants that did not survive the extreme heat wave in August-September.  I emailed Mel late one night and Ever was at our house to check on them the next morning, less than 7 hours later.  We asked for some changes to our plant selection and patio ground cover 2 months after completion.  We immediately received a quote and Dave and Ever returned within a week to make the changes and completed the work in 2 days.   
We found Barry, Dave, Mel and Ever are exceedingly responsive to our emails and calls.  They kept us informed, Dave sent pictures of their progress while we were out of town, they are professional and ensured we are totally happy with our new
yard.  We LOVE our home?s new look with the beautiful fence, enlarged yard, walkway and patio!  We highly recommend Eco Minded Solutions.

We are extremely happy with the extensive remodel and a ground floor extension of our La Jolla home Eco Minded Solutions did for us. They completely changed the flow and character of our home.

Eco Minded Solutions gave an honest bid with all costs broken out in great detail. They were significantly less expensive than other companies we were also considering. I particularly value the "can do" attitude that Josh Rosenthal instills in his workers. They guided us throughout the process, and followed through with all of their obligations.

Throughout the process, the staff/crew were professional and friendly and easy to have around (we were living in the house during part of the project). I also appreciated that they were always on the lookout for ways to improve the project, make it simpler to do and less expensive, without sacrificing quality. The final product is amazing, finished on time and on budget. They absolutely stand behind their work and if you have a question or a concern they are incredibly responsive.

In summary, we have no reservations recommending them to anyone.

A++ rating. Great design that maximizes our land's utility while creating beautiful and functional areas. Highly professional at all levels of the company---from design to construction to front office. Impressed with the work crews who know what they're doing and do it well. Attention to detail is excellent. The company has been highly responsive to our needs and questions. I felt confident in Eco from our fitst meeting on. Not the cheapest, but I believe a best value because Eco's work is excellent. I highly recomment Eco Minded Solutions to anyone who wants added-value at all phases of the design and construction, and georgous work that will last, I believe, for the life of your home or business.

We found them at a Home Show at the convention center, along with a couple other landscape companies. We were silly enough to choose another company first, who did a small amount of work for us and did it fairly poorly. Several months later we were looking to not only re-do that area (correctly), but also do a full overhaul of our property. We remembered Barry Thau from our discussions with him at the home show, and went to their website to check their work. We were really drawn to their modern design and promotion of drought-tolerant plants.  
We worked with Barry on the design and contract, and then with their construction and project manager after that. They started when they said they would, and ended right on schedule. There was some back-order for delivery of our string lights, but they kept us in the loop on this and gave us an ETA long the way. They were also very willing to accommodate changes we wanted to make along the way, and were quick about change orders. We made 3 or 4 changes as we went and were given timely quotes for the price difference, and they were able to incorporate the changes along the project. 
Overall I'd definitely recommend them, as they were great to work with from start to finish. But as you can see by my grade for "Price", they aren't the cheapest company out there for this kind of work. But they are high quality and make every effort to do the job right the first time. So in this case, you get what you pay for. A grade of "C" may not look good but Angie's List considers this to mean "Fair", and I'd say their price was fair for the quality of work and communication we received.
They are also scheduled to come back for a 45 day check-in, where they will address any issues with their work or plants that may arise during that time.
