I took, from my mother's house, an old dusty box of 35+ year old reel-to-reel tapes of my father's voice, singing with his band, lecturing at the college, etc., and I wanted to get these tapes digitized before they disintegrated (they were made in the mid-60's). I then planned to make DVDs for my siblings, some of whom had no memory of his voice. It took this company a wee bit more time than they anticipated, but they were done close to the expected date. AND they called me to let me know it might be a bit later than the initial date. The price was a bit less than the initial estimate, due to the actual recording time versus the estimated recording time. Ed Stroh, my contact, was very patient with me (and with other customers I overheard while there) and I felt in good "geek" hands here. The employees all seem on the youngish side, but don't let that fool you. These guys are knowledgeable, professional and patient. They know how to explain stuff to a novice. The final WAV files were huge, but we got them back on a hard drive with no problem. As a novice sound engineer, it was a bit much for me -- the software to convert the files to easily playable MPEG files proved too complicated; fortunately my brother is a sound whiz, so he converted all the files after he cleaned them up (it was, after all, amateur recordings). This company will provide as much or as little assistance as you need so if I had needed help, they were my backup option. My brother was able to put them up on a web site for the entire family to download and enjoy. I am very pleased.
Description of Work: DVD Your Memories took 21 dusty, dirty, old reel-to-reel tapes of my father's and digitized them to WAV files so I could hear my father's voice again after almost 40 years. This company patiently explained what I could expect, how I could handle them, what to do with them once I received them, the time it would take, and how much it would cost. They were very good about explaining the details of digital sound to a novice like myself.
