All was perfect from start to finish.

He was really good. He was excellent. He did a very good job. He is very responsive, he calls you back. The quality of work was excellent and the price was good.

Job went well. The work got done fast. I had to pay part up front which made me nervous. But before I made any other payments I got to see my project. Project was done according to spec, with real materials (no particle board or veneers, finished in conversion varnish, soft close mechanisms). Dave earned my trust, he's apparently not one of those to rip you off, and he did the work and called me to discuss as needed. Not many owners are good at actually calling you about your job. He also does the work himself, so you get to interface with the person doing the work. I wanted a chance to work with him before he was hired, so we worked it out that I paid him for the plans and I could take the plans to someone else if I didn't feel confident after that. But I did. Good local small business to support. Getting the work done was a pleasant experience which is too unusual for contractors. Price-wise he was a bit less than someone else I quoted, but I bet the work I got is also better than the contractor I did not select.
