I liked him.  He had 2 workers with him.  They moved all the furniture, came back when we asked for some areas to have some touch ups done.

I have an exterior deck railing that is pretty long and a spiral staircase that I needed to be painted.  The railing and staircase are made out of construction grade steel vice the normal wrought iron.  The railing and staircase  are constructed of horizontal tubular steel and is therefore much harder to paint than flat surfaces.  I wanted a quality paint job that would last for as long as will.  I researched painters with a good reputations and the proper insurance and  requested three bids.  One contractor (Steve Travis of Patriot Painting Inc.)  didn't show to provide a bid, a second contractor (Tom Curtis of Pacific Coast Painting, who would probably have done a great job) bid $3,875, and the third contractor (Dave Atherton of Dave Atherton Painting) bid $1,900.  I selected Dave Atherton Painting and signed a contract.

Dave Atherton kept contact with me prior to performing the scheduled painting, and started the paint job as promised. He and his crew sanded and used a cleaning liquid before each coat of paint. They contracted to provide two coats of primer and one coat of finish. All paint was a two component paint that dries to a very hard surface, was specifically designed for steel, and was very expensive. The paint was applied by roller and brush, and not sprayed. The painting of the tubular construction was difficult enough, but the underside of the spiral staircase steps had to be extremely difficult. It turned out that the finish coat didn't cover to the satisfaction of the painters, and they painted a second coat of finish. So I ended up getting four coats paint at the contracted price, when only three were contracted for.

The painters showed up each day as scheduled, they didn't drip any paint anywhere that I could find, and they were extremely professional, e.g., no loud music or loud talking, and seemed to work very steadily vice taking long breaks. I am very pleased with this company and would use them again.
