DO NOT use Culligan. Absolutely horrible customer service from multiple agents which tells me they need better training. They interrupt many times during a customer service call while the customer is explaining their question. After I asked the agent to stop interrupting me she explained they interrupt in order to provide "better" service when the customer is saying something that's incorrect. However, as a now former customer, the consumer is simply trying to explain details of what's seen on the bill and we don't know what is "incorrect" until we can convey our understanding. What happens often is they cut off the customer mid sentence, and their reply doesn't answer the question because THEY DO NOT COMPLETELY LISTEN. Wish I could give negative 5 stars. The predominance of 1 star reviews for Culligan San Diego reinforces the consistently BAD service I've observed. Many others have previously posted reviews about their BAD service, and I see the owner replied. However, the bad reviews keep coming in which shows nothing has improved. Owner: please get your agents some basic customer service training and ask for feedback from customers after they have called. The feedback will help you improve.

I would never work with Culligan again. They actually have a decent product, but if you can't service it, what's the point. Find a company that's willing to answer when you need a service call. I guess if you pay their $20/mo you're on their do no respond list. Do your due diligence before working with Culligan.

First, they stopped debiting our checking account for our monthly service but each monthly statement kept stating pay nothing. Then, after our account went past 90 days in arrears in June of 2012 we received a very nasty and threatening letter of collection. This form letter stated that our account was now delinquent, that we would be referred to collection agencies if immediate payment wasn't sent and that our credit rating would suffer as we would be reported to the three major credit reporting agencies. So I immediately write a check for $91 and change and run to the post office to get it out in that days' mail. I then call them to tell them payment is in the mail and not to debit my checking account. I was told that they had recently changed billing systems and were still experiencing problems. They told me to ignore the collections letter and that all collections activities were being suspended indefinitely. I again request that our checking account not be electronically debited for July as we have made a payment by check via snail mail. Initially, their systems are down I was told and I had to call back to find this out. When I ask why this happened I am told that they are short-staffed in addition to the financial systems issue. I ask for a supervisor and she tells me the same thing and that they cannot call customers who got those collections letters as they do have have adequate staffing. I was flabbergasted and said that at the very least their business model is fatally flawed and needs extensive review and revision. So I get my July 2012 bank statement and guess what? They cashed my check and now miraculously debited my account for the past due amount. I call on the 23rd of July, am told their systems are down once again and they will call me back when they are up again. On Friday the 27th I call them and say nothing asking if their billing system is available and I am told that they are. Then I give my account number and ask for billing. After a briefhold I get a billing clerk. To make a long story short I am told that they did double up on me and that I had a credit on my account. When I asked for a refund for the amount of the check I am told that my credit is only for two months as they charge in advance. When I inform the young lady to please send my that amount I am told that she has to check with her supervisor. I ask her to do so and that I will wait but she tells me she has to send her supervisor a message and that it will be some time before I get a response. So, once my account is current I am going to Home Depot, purchasing a R.O system and self-installing it. Once that is done I am calling Culligan to cancel my service and have them come out and remove their equipment from my property.

Technician didn't have all the parts needed for my old system. He left to get them and returned within the hour to complete the job. I've given the price category a "B" because I didn't do any competitive bidding, but it seemed to be a fair price.

On March 1, 2010 I cancelled my account with Culligan by phone, informing them that I am moving from the area on March 16-18. On March 9, the route man arrived at my house and installed a new tank. I told him my account was cancelled. He said I had to cancel 30 days in advance. I called the Customer Service number at Culligan and was told that I did have to cancel 30 days in advance and that I would have to pay for the new tank (even though I will be gone, the house will be empty, and I asked them not to install it.) The Customer Service person said that the "30 day advance notice" rule is specified in the contract. When I said I signed that contract in 1975 and I don't have a copy of it she said, there was nothing she could do. For 35 years, Culligan and I had a good relationship---they delivered and I paid on time. However, I will not contract with them at my new residence. This lack of information will cost me $95.70 for a product that will not be used. I am writing so that other customers of Culligan will know about the 30-day rule.

Unit was leaking next day after installation. Serviceman fixed it by cleaning gaskets. Next day, unit was leaking again. I had to demand a new unit put in immediately and they accommodated me. No problems after that.

The person who came in was a very delightful person. They were very prompt to deliver and set it up. I wouldn't use a water softener again but they did a good job installing it. The work was very good but I was not satisfied with the product.

The technician arrived on time. He tested our water from our regular water softener and explained the results (they were fine). He repaired a malfunctioning tank on our reverse osmosis unit and replaced the filters. He did a good job, but the service is a little expensive.

THE SALES PERSON WAS VERY HELPFUL IN EXPLAINING ANY QUESTIONS WE HAD FOR HIM SINCE THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE BOUGHT A SYSTEM LIKE THIS. THE INSTALLERS DID THEIR PART OF THE JOB ON TIME AND WERE CLEAN ABOUT ANY DRILLING THEY NEEDED TO DO.
