Come Monday, nobody shows up between 7:30 and 8:30, so at 9:00, I called them to find out what happened. (I stayed home from work for an hour and a half waiting for them to come.) The man I spoke with did confirm that I had an appointment on the books for that time slot. He told me they must be running late and would I like them to call me? I asked if they could help me figure out what was going on, and the man said "No" because they were simply a scheduling business. Wow! Nobody could tell me what was going on! He asked if I'd like to get a call later from the company and I said yes.
Much later in the day (about 3:00 pm) I received a call from a lady named Rosie. She left a message stating that I must have the wrong company and that I really wanted Culligan and she gave me the number.
I called back to try to get to the bottom of this odd situation and spoke with a different woman who, this time, could NOT find me on the schedule at all. When I explained my dismay with the poor business they were providing, she asked if I would like to have the owner call me back. I said yes.
Rosie (not the owner) called again and did not have any explanation as to how they "lost" my appointment.
She offered to send someone out the next day between 7:30 and 8:30, but I said no thank you. I couldn't afford to miss that much work when I wasn't convinced they would show up anyway.
One other thing, their 800 # is not working. This really made me feel wary.
"Dear Ms. [removed member name] and Angie List Subscribers, I do want to apologize for the no show to your home. I take full responsibility, as I was the one who took the order. Unfortunately, I set your service up in a current customers account with your same last name not realizing that you were a new customer. I did try to call you to see if I could remedy the situation and am still happy to do so if you'd give us another shot. Please accept my deepest apology; we wish you all the best. Sincerely, Grant Boroff Owner"
When I called, I received a prompt response, and all of my questions were answered. I wanted my current tap water tested, and I wanted a first-hand recommendation for the best reverse osmosis system for my situation. Grant was the only one who visited my house to see what I needed.
On the day he visited, my tap water tested at over 600 total dissolved solids (TDS). I was pretty horrified and asked many questions for what needed to be done. Grant was very knowledgable and patient and answered all my questions. He saw my kitchen arrangement and suggested that he could even run a line to the refrigerator so that the ice maker would receive clean water. Then he showed me the options he could provide for systems, and for faucets. I was particularly happy with one system, the Pura, because I could easily change the filters myself, therefore avoiding additional service calls. He also offered to included a water meter that would allow me to monitor the effectiveness of the system over time. The other companies wanted to make annual or semi-annual visits to change the filters for me and obviously charge additional money.
Based on the fact that Grant made a house visit, was very prompt, communicated well by email, provided options from which I could choose, made relevant suggestions, and supported my desire to be self-sufficient, I chose his company. By changing the filters myself, I determined that I would break even with the cost after three years and subsequently save money. Of course, Coast Water will be my first call with any problems that the system may develop over time.
The system was installed quickly at my convenience. Not all parts were available for the extension to the refrigerator, but that was completed the following week with no prompting. The water meter delivered was tested and did not seem to be accurate, so it was returned. It took an extra call to have that delivered again, but that was a minor inconvenience. I've had no trouble with the system since installed.
Called COAST WATER and they responded immediately - on Friday before Christmas.
I had called other plumbers before COAST. All of the other plumbers said they would have to charge me double for late hours because it was Friday before the Holidays. Some plumbers said they could not get to me until after the Holidays.
Fortunately, I remembered COAST WATER from having gotten a Water Softener System from them.
COAST was, again, very helpful.
I am grateful for their emergency service and their doing a thorough job with total clean-up after completion.
And they did not gouge me because of weekend hours before Holiday!!!
Their offices were courteous and helpful - taking time to answer all of my questions without any pressure to buy their products.
The Water Softener I chose, bought and Coast Conditioning installed - was done by appointment ON-TIME. The installation work was done quickly, neatly with total clean-up, and, the installer took time to familiarize me with the operation of my water softener.
I highly recommend Coast Water Conditioning & Plumbing - In fact, I intend to use them for my next purchase of a HOT WATER TANK!
