Mr. Herron arrived at the appointed time. He asked me to show him the problem areas. He found the reason the wall control for the fan was not working for me. I needed to push a little harder to change the speed of the fan. He said the contacts might be slightly worn and that when it stops making contact we can get another unit from either Casablanca or Fandiego, where it was purchased.
Mr. Herron then brought a floor cloth and ladder to enable him to reach the Ceiling fan. He proceeded to troubleshoot the problem and did locate the source of the grinding noise and showed me where there was metal rubbing against metal. He continued to inspect the unit and found some failure in what he called the 'rubber flywheel'. He then found the model number and serial number on top of the unit and took a picture of it so I could have the information for my records.
Using the phone number for Casablanca located on the installation papers, Mr. Herron spoke to the Casablanca representative who advised that we could not purchase a motor or replacement parts. It is necessary to make an appointment with Casablanca who will send out an authorized repairman. That person would ascertain what parts would be needed or indicate that we would need a new motor. After the phone conversation, Jerry, discussed our options. He gave me all the information and the phone number of the authorized repair service in Escondido. We discussed possible prices of parts, service call, new motor and Jerry's suggested repair. He indicated to us that this would not be a permanent repair but that it would solve the problem of the grinding.
We opted to go with his quote of $205.00 (service charge + repair). Jerry cleaned up after himself, as polite and at all times professional giving us information, discussing options, and letting us make up our minds with no undue pressure.
