California Plumbing And Leak Detection

They were dispatched to my new home by my new home (First American) warranty company. Warranty didn't cover roots in the lines so I gave to okay for company to do the job. Estimated around $2500. Dug-up front yard, minimally, got a lot of the roots out and installed 2 new clean-outs in the front yard and left the tops of the pipes significantly sticking-out out of the ground right in front of house. I asked if they planned to just leave the clean-outs so prominently right in the midele of my front yard and they said the city reuqired that be left this way. Said they couldn't get all roots and I had to pay another $400 for a hydro-jet process/company to get the rest of the roots out of the lines. It took 2 days to complete the project. After 2 other plumbers came by they remarked that they couldn't believe the company didn't cut the tops of the pipes down lower and/or offer to put-in some irrigation/access boxes to make it look a little better. Even the hydro-jet guy they had referred said he couldn't belive they just left the clean-out pipes sticking high out of the ground as they had done. The plumbing all worked fine after they were done but it seemed that they just wanted to finish-up and get out of here and paid no regard to the aesthetics of what they did. I liked having working plumbing but had to pay someone another $500 to come back and finish the job with the clean-outs in front of the house.
