"I am quite surprised by your review, as I thought our conversation went well. I'm even more surprised by your vengeance to review on every possible site that exists. Yes samples were delayed. I don't know that it warrants the obsessive posting across the internet but so be it. I did not offer you a "1% credit". I waived the costs of an order for your project solely to make some accommodation. You said thank you and paid the balance. I respectfully diasgree about several comments. Prior to your project, you were in our showroom and saw the one edge you are referring to. I stated that if there were any issues still remaining on your project, I would take care of them and you declined. It also ended with my request to contact me should you change your mind or need something further. Your install date was confirmed with you shortly after your contract date was signed. I will vehemently deny that my staff will tell clients that any part of your project "isn't their job". With the volatile world we are all living in, we do our best to work collectively and as a team on all of our projects to get the job done. Clearly you were, are and remain unhappy. I sincerely apologize for however we fell short. Based on the searing review and intention to distribute "communications" to anyone who seeks it, is concerning to say the least. Not because of the details themselves but your explicit intention to cause whatever damage you can to our company and the 30 families it supports. You told me we came highly recommended from other friends that have worked with us, so we know that your situation isn't the norm. I think it is safe to say, that we are all living a different "norm" and believe that most of us are doing our best to navigate through the challenges that brings. I still stand behind what I said and am here should you need assistance. Though it appears your determined is to persuade others away from our company, I hope they take the time to see other high recommendations and from serving San Diego for the past 47 years."

"Thank you for your review. However, we performed no services for you. The previous owners of your home used Boyar's and were quite happy. Unfortunately, we were not willing to piece your kitchen back together after you had disassembled portions of it, in trying to cut costs. Had you phoned us before doing so, we would have been able to advise you on what your options could be."
"We appreciate the opportunity to work for you. Thanks so much for taking the time to review!"
"Thank you for your review [Member Name Removed]. Upon our discovery that certain clients were having issues similar to yours, we took care of it immediately, as you stated above. There is absolutely no problem keeping installers, as everyone of our 6 teams have been with our company 15-20 years, so I am not sure where that statement is coming from. There certainly was a delay in replacing a door that had been damaged, which would generally incur a charge as it wasn't from normal wear and tear. But due to the circumstances, we replaced it at no charge. I believe there was also an extensive delay in trying to accommodate your schedule because this is a second home, so we had to work around your availability. I know we did both yours and your neighbors home, over 5 years ago and I worked with you personally. Based on your own review, all went well and the product has held up with the exception of the door that was burned. As much as we appreciate your feedback, I don't know that a C review is fair over the replacement of a non-warranted door, that we ultimately replaced. In the future, I encourage you to contact me directly, should you have an issue. Thanks so much."

The demo/refacing began a week before projected (how often does THAT happen!) and was expected to take 5 full days. It ended up taking 4 full days and 2 half days and both Laura and Tony were quick to communicate any changes or needs.
I can't say enough positives about the work that our installer, Tony, did. He is meticulous and thorough; he even "corrected" issues that were created when the original cabinets were built (eg. non-squared cabinets, gaps). I was able to continue using my kitchen and the mess was minimal. I felt comfortable with them being in my home while I was at work. The final result is beautiful and the overall quality actually exceeded my expectations.

The entire istall was a disaster. Nothing was covered properly as they stated they would do and dust was everywhere. The doors that were a double door on a cabinet when opened would not close again properly as they would overlap. Some doors were hung higher or lower not even and the pantry door was hung 3 inches from the bottom when it should have been flush with the floor. The seams where the new overlay onto the boxes were not evenly matched and you could see the original wood color. The crown molding was not matched properly at the corners. There were numerous imperfections on the actual cupboard boxes. The tilt out drawer for the sink had a plastic insert that was way to large for the drawer which then could not be closed once opened. The microwave was not installed as the measurements were incorrect. Now mind you they were installing the microwave without additional charge, which we grately appreciated. However, we were charged for a new cabinet that was made smaller so the microwave would fit above the stove. Now, John the designer measured this and gave me the exact size measurements for the microwave to fit above the stove with the existing granite backsplash. A second person came out to measure once again for final ordering and he actually saw the new microwave at that time for exact measures for the new cabinet and installation of it above the stove. However, when the installer came to do the job the measurements were incorrect and the granite backsplash was to high even after TWO seperate measurements. We waited serveral weeks then finally someone came to cut the backsplash at a cost to Boyars but they did make the mistake and the microwave was installed. However the installer ruined the entire new cupboard cutting a huge hole in the bottom making the cupboard useless. We called daily to Jeff and John to ask for one of them to come out and look at the job that it was entirely unaccectable. Finally, after writing a review on Yelp Jeff finally came to look at the job and agreed that it was not up to "their" standards and would redo the entire job. During which time we found out that the person who did our install it was his first job since ours was such a small job they figured he could do the job.
December 9, 2014 Jeff finally sent out Humberto to redo the entire job from start to finish. This included replacing the destroyed new cabinet, installing the microwave and replacing everything, This process took 4 days. We were assured by Jeff that Humberto would complete this entire redo from start to finish. When Humberto was done there were still a few items that needed to be fixed the tilt out drawer is still crooked, install the new plastic drawer to tilt, and replace a cracker drawer face a couple minor touch ups to the seams. Which as of today 02/24/2015 it has still not been completed. I did speak with Jeff and he has scheduled Humberto to return on Monday, March 2nd we shall see if he shows up. We also found out that a prior appointment 3 weeks ago was not kept nor canceled because the wrong drawer face was ordered and had to be reordered. Again, a day off of work was taken for an appointment that was not kept nor did we receive any coursety call to let us know of the cancelation. We used up over 14 days off of work for scheduled appointments to which either were canceled day of or no shows. We asked if he could work with us doing early morning, late evening or weekend but we could not afford to take any further time away from work which Jeff stated he could not do had to be between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm weekdays and he believes we are being unreasonable with this request. I am taking time away from my job, impacting my income once again, so that Boyars can finally make this right as they contain to say they would like to do.
The job was finally completed and all the problem areas were fixed as scheduled on March 2nd. The stress that we went thorough was not worth it at all.
"Thank you for your review [Member Name Removed]. I am sorry to hear you had such a poor experience. Though it appears that a second chance in unlikely, I still wanted to reach out. Jeff was with our company for only a short period of time. It appears your project was during that time frame. That in no way represents how we treat our clients. In the event you are ever in need of a service or warranty call, I hope you will reach out to me directly. I am the Vice President of this company and can assure you, I will handle your issue personally. Your project is warranted for life. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to prove ourselves. Even at this point, if there is anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you so much. Apologies again for the lack of service you received.
