He removed the hive and relocated it.

Came by to give a free estimate and description of what needed to be done. I expressed concern that the hive be kept alive and intact. Jeff reassured me about that. Set an appointment.
Jeff arrived exactly on time, with all the equipment he needed. He promptly suited up (head net only) and got to work, using a smoker and gently removing each honey comb and placing it in a cardboard box along with the bees.
When that was done, he gently rounded up the mass of remaining bees (strangely calm) and moved them into the box using a a flap of cardboard and a ruler to herd them. Then he closed and sealed the box, and cut a 2 x 3 inch window in it, leaving a flap to close it when done. Using a putty knife and smoker he gently herded almost all the remaining bees into the box before closing and taping the window. He got all of them except about two dozen. The whole process took about an hour. Call him "The Bee Whisperer"!
I can't get over his skill and how relaxed and calm both he and the bees were, and am very happy that this gorgeous hive was saved to go to work for us pollinating crops.
I took some pictures and would love to share them on this site, but guess there's no way. I'll email them to Jeff, and hopefully he can put them on the Bee Rescue site.
