After driving home, we smelt a strong gasoline odor. Was told to bring the car right over. After a quick diagnosis, our car was repaired in just a few hours. Great communication and friendly service. They also diagnosed and repaired a nagging lighting problem that even a dealer service center couldn’t fix.

The oil change always is quick and professional, and they are quick to call and explain anything else they find, ask if I want to fix it, and are not condescending or putting pressure on me to spend a lot of money. They always answer all my questions, and offer advice and opinions on trending issues with the type of car I have. When I have declined services, they don't make me feel bad about it and there's no fearmongering. I am sensitive to condescension and manipulation or pressure, because I am a woman and I don't know very much about cars, so I'm always wondering if someone is trying to pull one over on me because they assume or can tell I don't know that much. But Allman is friendly and honest, as far as I can tell, and they have told my husband the same things they have told me.
I have since traded in the car I took there and have dealership service in my contract so I may not be back to Allman for a while, but am glad there is a reputable place in my neighborhood in case I do need it. (I don't want to go back to chain oil-change places - I like finding local family-run businesses!)

Mike Allman has been our "go to" guy for our cars for several years now. When I first met him I immediately got a feeling of honesty and trust when he talked to me about my car's repairs. He is professional and does an excellent job explaining exactly what is wrong with the car and what choices I have in repairing it. There is no pressure. I have referred several of my friends to him and they are equally as happy with his service as I am.

My wife took the vehicle in, as I was traveling for work.  The guys at Allman were very friendly and quite up front with us.  They told us we could possibly negotiate with the dealer and get a lower price, but we just wanted it fixed.  We had already suffered through enough hot days in El Cajon!  They also explained why Honda CRVs have issues with their A/C units. I had already done research online and what they said was exactly what I had read before.  My wife took it in on Wednesday morning and it was done by Thursday evening.  They ended up replacing all of the A/C components.  We were also planning a family trip for that following weekend, driving to Iowa and back.  We were skeptical of taking a newly repaired car that far, so had arranged to rent one.  When that fell through, we had no choice but to risk it and take our own CRV.  It performed wonderfully!  A/C was blowing nice and cold, even as we drove through the desert and 109F temperatures.  I'm impressed with their workmanship and their customer service.  It's so nice to find a mechanic who I can trust any future repairs on!!

Pretty much what I said above.
I worked on my own vehicles for years. I have limitations that prevent me from doing that now.
It is difficult for me to trust others to work on my vehicles.
I know pretty quick when I am being scammed .
I have played dumb at times when searching for a good mechanic just to see if the guy was trying to sell me a bridge..

A few minutes talking to Mike Allman the first time and I knew had found the guy I could trust.
I have not been disappointed . Never had to go back a second time for the same issue. I know some times unforeseen stuff  happens and ya have to go back. This happened to a friend I recommended to Mike and he took care care of the issue immediately .
I have no reservations about recommending Allman Family Auto to anyone.
Five out of five stars!

Mike had the car done the same day. I was treated very professionally, and they do very good work.
Going to a place like this is a matter of trust in the beginning, and once you have been there you will find that any concerns you may have had are now gone. Thanks to "Angies List"  and to "The Allman Family Auto" I am a very happy customer.

To replace the tail lights in ny Toyota Sienna it is necessary to remove the inner trim panel on back lift hatch, not an easy task. Job was done and no marks left on hatch. I am very happy with the work done at this shop. Work is always done right and at a fair price.

The repairs went very well. The service manager also inspected my newly acquired 2005 BMW and gave me an honest appraisal of it's condition.

He's a great mechanic and a very honest guy. I never feel like he's trying to sell me or pull one over on me. He doesn't recommend things to be fixed when they don't need to be. What he says, I can take to the bank. He charges a fair price also.

We dropped off the car at 7 when they opened. They called about 8 with the estimate. It was done by noon but we could not pick it up till about 3pm. They inspected the rear breaks and said we had about 9 months depending on our driving habits. I asked that if they were needed on the rears, we would have to wait till next month. They could have easily told us we needed them and I would have had them do those brakes next month. The honesty was refreshing.

I had breaks done on my other vehicle (fronts only with no new rotters) for almost double the price so I was expecting the $400 price tag without new rotters. I can only say, they have our business from now on and we are recommending them to others in our family.

I spent $125 on that service.  I appreciated that he told me that it would be very difficult to find what the vibrating noise was underneath the car unless I wanted to spend about a $1000.  He also told me that there was nothing mechanically wrong with it and that he would wait until the sound got very loud, so he could find it more easily, rather than spending a lot of money pulling it apart.  I appreciated that he tried to go the least costly way for me.  His shop environment is very friendly and it looks like it is him and a couple of employees there.  It is like a family owned shop and he is very reasonable, professional and very easy to talk to.  He is also skilled.  Yesterday when I drove by with a loud sound he came out to look at it and did not say that he did not have time.  He took time to help me with that.  I would definitely use him again.

Mike told me about the mess the other garage had made of my car, but to fix it would cost me more dollars that I just didn't have.  Still, he didn't just dismiss me and I appreciated that alot.

They seemed like they knew what they were doing and they didn?t seemed like they were trying to make an extra buck. They were honest in their dealings. I will be using them in the near future.

Mike is the guy who owns the company. He is a straight shooter. He gives me an honest assessment of the issues and he never tries to sell me anything that I do not need. An oil change will usually run about thirty dollars.

Mike used to work on our car at another shop, and we followed him when he started his own business. He is polite and thorough.
