The finished project looked great, we were pleased with how it looked/s, but there were many discussions along the way that took place in order for the finished product to look like the "Artists Impression" (in other words graphics that were agreed upon at the start)
The foreman and all the workers were great, always keen to listen, and where possible make the necessary/requested changes. The Owner was a great guy personally, but business wise was not pleasant to deal with, mainly because on a daily basis, we would find him waiting for us, wanting a check or cash for the days work. He used a lot of sub contractors and had to pay them then and there. So, virtually no money came out of his own pocket. That said though, he certainly knew his stuff, and was always there to check that the job was going well.
We suggested that instead of badgering the client every day for money, do a weekly tally on a Friday and let us write him one check. That never happened, and to be fair, is probably the main reason that we would not use him again.
The retaining wall did not follow the shape in the graphic, so this moved the pool closer to the house than originally planned. But the reasons given were justified.
The pool equipment ended up being put down the side of the house because they built the retaining wall and did not leave space/opening to be able to build in the pool pump area. Hence a longer piping run which, when you intend to heat your pool, is not a good thing ! And when originally discussed was the point that they raised "Have the pool equipment close to the pool because it is beneficial especially when heating it up"!!
3 months after the project was over, the gates that their sub contractor supplied were already rusting!! We tried calling, send e-mails & texts ......... no response.
I had to go around and tighten a lot of the sprinkler heads that they had installed coz they were leaking.
To this day, the spa drains as soon as the pool pump switches off. I have cleaned the one non-return valve but I think that I am going to have to change out the 2" fixed in place n/r valve.
"Sorry for the misunderstanding I went back and checked our estimate log and found no request for an estimate from Member. If you will give us a call, I'll be happy to make sure you receive an estimate or a returned call."
In the front yard, we didn't like the look of things at all. It seemed as though concrete had been poured in piecemeal at different times, making an unattractive, patchy mess. Ron and Advanced Masonry, tore out all of the existing concrete, designed a nice new entry walkway, extended our driveway, and landscaped everything. They stuck to their timeline, and matched the look of our driveway, creating a beautiful front yard.
In the backyard, we had next to nothing to start with. It was full of weeds and a strange walkway around the perimeter. Ron and Advanced Masonry came up with some great ideas and were able to transform our backyard from wasteland to oasis. They removed almost all of the old concrete (leaving what I requested to help meet my price point). With my input, they drew out the new look of the backyard including the pool, sod areas, landscape areas, and hardscape (concrete and fire pit). Then they built it all. they dug out and built the pool, poured the concrete, built the wooden pergola, built the fire pit and dog run, and landscaped everything. It was incredible to see the transformation as it happened. Everything moved along quickly and we couldn't be happier with it all.
