It wasn’t a good experience. The dog was very unhealthy when he came back. Their pricing is quite expensive for the service. It’s not very good service.

The service was very good. I've them for probably six months or so. The set up of the place was well organized, extra ordinary clean and they like animals.

Overall,  it went well.  We dropped our dog of at our scheduled time on March 23,  and picked him up at the appointed time a week later--after he was bathed and groomed.  Its hard to say much more because we were gone and our dog stayed on his own.  He had no bad things to report!

For this latest trip, Peninsula had my dogs medical records which I provided in advance.  We discussed medical needs in advance.  This allowed me to show up with my pets during a busy time and have a prompt check in.  A staff member always comes out to greet the dogs, weigh them and take them back while I check in and do paperwork at the front desk.  It helps to learn the hours of the kennel so that you can plan pick up around kennel availability.  For instance, Sunday hours are 8-noon but 9am to 11am is less busy so it's a better time to arrive.  No pick ups or drop off can take place when the kennel isn't open - to avoid surprises around pick up and drop off.  We planned our return around pick up time (before 6pm on weekdays) and my pets were good to go.  We brought our own food but the kennel also provides food and pill pockets.  Things go smoothly during less busy hours especially if your pets are aggressive with others.  I am happy with the services I receive and I plan to book with Peninsula Pet Resort again.

We were very happy with their service. Pen Pet did exactly what they were supposed to do. Our dogs had never been boarded before. We have 3 larger, older dogs - A Great Dane, a Sicilian Mastiff and a Rottweiler. Normally they stay with a woman (who is paid) while we're out of town, who has since retired. The new experience was a bit much for the dogs. Our smallest, an 85 lb Rottie,  was not used to being in a kennel and injured her foot. Pen Pet took her to our vet for treatment. They needed to take her in every other day. We were very pleased that they used our vet in San Mateo and not a closer one. Sadly, our 9 year old Dane died while we were gone. Pen Pet took him to our vet too. He died of natural causes/old age.

Even though the circumstances were sad, we believe Pen Pet did everything they could to take care of our pets. Our trip to Alaska took us to places where there was no cell phone reception. A fact we didn't know until getting there. So communication was complicated. But, after the first week of no cell service we arrived in a coverage area and had multiple messages from Pen Pet about our Rottie. We felt she was being taken care of and decided to stay for the remainder of our anniversary trip. It was during the second week of no cell coverage that our Dane passed away. Once we were back in cell range, we had several messages from Pen Pet.

Pen Pet made every effort to reach us and took proper care of our pets. They were also very kind in helping us deal with our loss.

And, when we had to go out of town for a family emergency we used them again.

Their prices are posted on their website. I like how they give me feedback. They send me an email and tell me how my cat is doing. They even send pictures. If you leave your cat, he can’t talk to you; so you assume its fine. We’ll say that the lady before me requested that her cat be groomed and when she had got there, they had not done it and she was in a hurry; so they should verify if all the requested services are done before picking up the pets. They all seem like pet lovers and they all seem as conscientious as they can be. I just moved to the area and I don’t know what it costs. I had to find a place really fast and they sounded good.

Very pleasant. I feel totally comfortable that our dogs are well cared for. They are always happy to be dropped off, and are happy and well rested when we pick them up. Nice that a groomer is on staff-we get the dogs shampooed and brushed out before we pick them up, which also saves us in having to pay the last day's boarding fee! There are options for playtime with other similar dogs who are felt to be safe and socialized, or you can sign up for one-on-one playtime for your dog daily as well as potty breaks and walks. I'm glad that our pets aren't just caged up the whole day! The owners also allow us to put our 3 small dogs together in one big run, which keeps them from getting lonely and saves us bucks. Highly recommended. No comparison to the experience we'd had at 2 other kennels before finding the Peninsula Pet Resort!!!

I thought the people at PPR were great so I am disappointed to say that, despite how much I liked them, they permitted conditions to exist where my dogs got fleas and were sent home that way so now I have a flea problem in my house. The day after they came home flee poop was visible in their beds. When I ran the flea comb over them it was full of flea poop and live fleas. Ugh. The infestation was so severe I had to put them on Advantage (which I hate because of its toxicity) and spent the weekend doing wash. I take precautions such as restricting my dogs' playmates to neighbors' dogs whom I know do not have fleas. I am surprised that PPR accepts dogs with fleas and doesn't treat infested dogs before the fleas spread. Especially since PPR is not inexpensive and you can spend a lot more on the extras (which I did) hoping your pet will be happily and safely occupied while you're away. Getting fleas makes them miserable and detracts from everything else you tried to do for them.

I have one dog-aggressive dog and one friendly one. They were very careful to keep the aggressive one separated, and yet she loved Jose the tech. They all stayed 9 days. I brought them back for another overnight when we were having work done on the house. I cannot say enough NICE things about PPR. I totally trust them with my pets. The girls in the front office are very nice and efficient. I've asked others in my area about prices and it seems PPR is right in line or less expensive than other boarding facilities.

Our dog seemed happy when we picked him up (we also checked over the phone while we were abroad). I liked that the person at the kennel took notes of all our concerns (some health and behavioral issues) and the staff handling the dogs was aware of them and paid attention. I saw some dogs at play on the well maintained and shady yard and they seemed happy and well taken care of.

I'VE USED THIS FACILITY A NUMBER OF TIMES AND HAVE NEVER QUESTIONED MYSELF ABOUT LEAVING MY BELOVED DOG WITH THEM. THE ONE TIME THERE WAS A PROBLEM (A TOENAIL GOT RIPPED OFF) THEY COVERED THE VET BILL. EVERYONE IS PLEASANT AND COURTEOUS - AND THE DOG SEEMS HAPPY TO BE THERE.

THEY DO A GREAT JOB TAKING CARE OF ANIMALS. I HAVE BOARDED THREE VERY DIFFERENT DOGS AT THIS KENNEL, AND THEY ALL WERE TREATED WELL. FRIENDLY AND RESPONSIBLE.
