Never in my 30 years involved in construction have I been compelled to write a review like this, but this was one of the WORST experiences I have EVER had. About six months ago I decided to change my floors in my home. I hired Peninsula because I had saw decent reviews. The job they did was incredibly bad... (1) They left residue all over random hardwood around the house (which they said would be cleaned) (2) They said the job was done but they didn’t complete the baseboards in one full room of the house or garage entry, which to this day is still incomplete and a total eyesore!! On top of all that (3) they have been very unresponsive and rude to me and anyone who tries to reach them on my behalf to come finish the job. What makes this experience into a true NIGHTMARE is their complete lack of professionalism, horrible attitude and rudeness. DO NOT make the mistake we did by hiring these amateurs. My wife and I are traumatized by the situation and hope this review saves you from the same experience.
Response from Peninsula Hardwood Floors, Inc

"We successfully completed the hardwood floors in this house as subcontractors to Paravati Construction who acted as the general contract and point of contact, scheduler, etc., for the project. We did not have communication or the contact info for the owner as subcontractors until he called our office this week asking to speak to the owner (me) for which he got the call back on the same day. The work at this persons house was approved and paid in full when we completed our work months ago. If our work was horrible and not acceptable as claimed we would have not been paid in full. We left the home after completing the work, and the general contractor kept working at that home. Months after the completion of our work the home owner communicated to the general contractor that he wanted 25-30 planks replaced that they did not like due to the variation of color/grain which we refused to do at no cost. During the call with the me this person became upset that we weren’t going to replace the planks for free. I was not rude nor did I have a horrible attitude instead I provided a solution and requested for him to show us the planks that had “residue all over” and he declined. In terms of the baseboards, we did not install any baseboard at all in the house as it was not part of the contract. We only did the installation. It is a shame that whatever miscommunication or fallout this person had with the general contractor resulted in a “nightmare” experience from our company. We’re always willing and able to stand by our work when it is truly our fault for the simple reason that our lively hood depends on it. However, we will not do work for free even if we get a nasty review online."

We solicited three contractors for bids. The main issue which set Joel and his brother Juan, from Pacific Hardware (PH) apart from the other contractors was when they looked at the landing, they knew exactly what needed to be done and explained how it would be repaired. PH has exceptional customer service. Our telephone calls and emails were answered in a timely and thorough manner. On the day (Monday) work began, Joel’s crew helped to move some furniture into the garage from the family room. Before starting, Joel explained what was to be done and ensured that we understood the entire process. Joel did this before starting work each day in addition to inspecting the floors to ensure there were no problems or issues from the previous day’s work. Ruben and Omar were responsible for sanding our floors. The quality of their work was excellent especially regarding one portion of our dining room floor which was a bit slanted leading to the transition divider into our living room. The slant was barely noticeable after Omar completed sanding. The sanding took place on the first two days of the project. Part of the sanding process included the application of wood filler and further sanding. Joel applied one coat of varnish on the second and third day. On the fourth day, Joel was planning to apply the final coat of varnish; however, upon examining the kitchen/family room/dining room floors, determined the floors had not completely dried and found a few rough/uneven spots on the floor. He decided to postpone applying the final finish until the next day. On the fifth and final day of the project, Joel and his father put the finishing touches on the floors, i.e. identifying and filling in any areas with cracks, sanding, and applying the final coat of varnish. However, we subsequently noticed a few spots which had been missed. We contacted PH and Joel returned to our residence on Sunday afternoon and fixed those areas missed. Total time for the project was 7 days. Joel and his crew did an outstanding job. We are more than satisfied with the quality of work and price paid. Joel and his crew were very easy to work with and everyone had a pleasant personality and positive attitude. The end product was a high quality professional finished floor. If you used PH, you would be impressed with their hardwood floor knowledge, highly satisfied with their work and would be able to confidently refer PH to your family and friends.
