Best Buy Cabinets

I had already been working with Katerina to get a quote for some new kitchen cabinets, and had made multiple trips to their showroom in San Carlos. During my initial trip, I noticed some frame-less sliding shower doors for a 5-foot tub on display in their showroom. I had also been shopping for new shower doors, for three separate bathrooms I'll be remodeling, and these doors were perfect for one of the bathrooms.
These particular frame-less shower doors were brushed nickel, they have large ball-bearing wheels bolted through the top of each glass door panel, the glass is 5/16" thick glass, and they just all-around better quality than most of all the other shower doors I've looked at.
Katerina showed me all the shower doors on display in her showroom, demonstrated them, and showed me all their features. She is knowledgeable of all the products and brands they carry at Best Buy Cabinets, and she's very easy to work with.
It was a fantastic price, so I made the decision to purchase a set for one of the three bathrooms. The purchase and pickup were both easy, without any problems.
All-in-all I had a great experience working with Katerina, and a fantastic deal buying from Best Buy Cabinets!

Lack of integrity in business practices Rules the Day
We were looking to re-do our kitchen….get new cabinets and counter tops and backsplash. We came to
Best Buy Cabinets for the cabinet selection. The cabinets we selected were BEAUTIFUL AND WELL BUILT. They arrived in a timely manner.
The cabinet quality was not our issue.
We took issue with the completely incompetent kitchen designer employee….hired and fired by Best Buy’s owner during our contract with them. We had suspicions around the competence of the kitchen designer who came not once but three times to our home to take kitchen measurements….muttering each time to him how “difficult” our tiny kitchen design was in his opinion.
This made us nervous. We went ahead however and selected very nice cabinets that stretched our budget but were beautiful. They had been ordered and were under construction at the factory when our designer suddenly disappeared. He became unavailable by phone, no returned calls. We contacted the owner of the business who was often on site in the office only to learn that our designer had been fired by the owner for incompetence. Then we were really worried about the accuracy of our kitchen measurements and design.
We immediately expressed our concern to the owner given the turn of events….and the owner made us feel very secure…promising that he would do everything in his power to give us 100% satisfaction on our project…that we
didn’t have to worry about anything. He wanted to make the process as stress free as possible.
Well….8 weeks later when our cabinets arrived and began to be installed by our contractor. It became obvious that some of the measurement were indeed not accurate, the cabinets were beautiful and well constructed…however a third of them simply did not fit into the kitchen design as planned and paid for. He agreed the cabinets couldn’t fit the design as layed out. We anticipated the owner to step up and make these mistakes of his employee “right”…instead the situation went downhill
quickly.
He was not really interested in our satisfaction.He offered to order all new cabinets, delaying our project and the use of a
kitchen in our home by yet an additional 8 weeks minimum (our contractor didn't know when he could return if we stopped the project in mid-stream). His offer was unacceptable to us. . We felt this offer was not realistic or reasonable.In addition, replacing the cabinets would have cost the owner a lot of money. Instead, we proposed he defray the cost of our contractor modifying the existing cabinets…..reconstruct them to fit in the space we have. He refused to do this. This suggestion would have been several thousand dollars less expensive for him than his offer would have been had we accepted it…but he adamantly refused our suggestion. Our suggestion would have satisfied us with our project outcome.
We went ahead and paid an additional amount to have our contractor salvage the cabinets that arrived miss-measured.
It seemed to us that the owner of Best Buy Cabinets had an attitude of unflinching, arrogance and rigidness around the situation, even though he knew that his employee who had made the miss-measurements was incompetent and he had let the person go for that reason. We found this situation extremely distasteful…considering we had invested $16,000 in cabinets with Best Buy….and expected a higher quality of integrity from the owner.
We had read all the Yelp reviews for this establishment…and because of the proximity to our home and the longevity of the business, we decided to give this business the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, we ignored the negative reviews that addressed clearly for us the owner’s arrogance in various situations…That was our biggest mistake. We think this business is very poorly run; we found its owner to be uncompromising and rude.
Buyer beware of Best Buy Cabinet’s business practices. They are very friendly and accommodating until they have that final
payment and then you are on your own.

After a lengthy delay I proceeded with the kitchen remodel and consulted several other firms, narrowing my choice to two cabinet suppliers. Both of them provided CAD drawings and design input, at no charge. The ballpark quote from Best Buy was several thousand dollars over the bids I ultimately received from the other companies. Shortly after my visit to their showroom I was sent e-mail follow-ups by Best Buy, and to their credit they did respect my request to not contact me unless I called them first. Overall, I don't feel the $49 I paid was worth it.

We walked into the store just to look at the options of cabinets, color, and options. Alex spent at least two hours with us showing us the different manufacturers, colors, options, and going over rough pricing. My plan was to install all of the cabinets and trim work myself.

Alex supported me in that decision, so we scheduled a sit down to put my kitchen dimensions in the computer. He worked off our architects drawings and asked many questions. Alex supported our ideas, offered alternatives to what we were thinking (that worked out better) and gave us ideas we had never thought of. At every little step on the computer he would pull up a 3D image so we could see what it looked like. If there were any dimensions missing he make a note for me to email him back with that info. As we progressed, I was getting tired of the exacting details, however now the project is finished, they were necessary. Once we thought we had everything complete, Alex came to the house and re-measured everything to be absolutely correct. Alex designed in small areas for variance in case the contractor did not match the drawings exactly. Since I was doing the install myself, I asked many questions on how to do things. Alex answered all of them and gave me great ideas on how to make it easier. He never once pushed us to get an installer. Our cabinets all arrived in great shape, however they were a little later than hoped, due to the holidays at the factory, out of control of Best Buy cabinets. After installation, I everything fit as planned, there was no extra material.

They were okay doing most of the work. Their follow-up was not so fantastic but overall they did a good job.

My first interaction was with the owner, and he was fantastic. Very responsive, honest and gave excellent advice given his experience. I worked with one of the staff members in the store to select and design the kitchen. The staff were very polite and patient throughout the process, as we went throu iterations of the design. They were always prompt on appointments and they took the time to work with me to ensure all my needs were met. In the end, they helped me select a brand and come up with a design that met my functional needs for a very challenging kitchen layout, all within my budget. The ordering process was painless, and there were no delivery or quality issues...I would not hesitate to use them again or commend them to others.

They were good in service and quality. The price was reasonable. I will use their services in future.

The staff is very responsive to all requests and questions. They provide excellent customer service, they are very knowledgeable and provide high quality products and very reasonable prices.

Overall, Alex and the owner did a very good job of putting together the design/plan for the many cabinets that were ordered. I was very happy with the cost which was at a 40% discount for the kitchen cabinets. However, follow through was not always smooth and my contractor often had to wait for additional materials- a valance above the refrig was missing and it took time to order this piece. One piece of hardware was also missing for the sliding trays. My contractor and I were not aware that additional work (extensive) had to be done to put together (build) the crown molding above the cabinets.

I was referred to Best Buy Cabinets by my cousin who had worked with them. I went to their showroom and got a long (but educational) presentation about contemporary cabinet manufacture, the plus and minus of various manufacturers and and features. I was given a sensible design and a surprisingly low quote on cherry shaker style cabinets for my kitchen. After putting down a deposit the designer came out to my house for a re-measurement appointment. My cabinets arrived in 2 weeks. Good experience. Professional people.
