Tanforan Shell Car Wash

The car wash is drive-through, touch-less, open 24 hours, and part of the Shell gas station and convenience store located opposite Tanforan Shopping Center on El Camino Real in San Bruno, California.  I arrived at about 7 pm--just before dark on a summer evening.  The station was busy but adequately staffed with one employee outside available to answer questions while monitoring the car wash and another employee inside the convenience store who was the cashier.  I bought the "platinum" (most expensive) wash from the cashier.  I paid $11.99 in cash.  I did not buy gas.  I was in a hurry.  The line for the wash was short and the employee outside gave friendly hand signals to drivers letting them know when to enter and exit the wash.  The wash was thorough and fast; it included a wheel wash called a "hub scrub" that was quick and worked fine.  I entered in a car covered with road dust and exited in a car whose exterior sparkled.  The cost to vacuum the interior of a car there is less than at most gas stations, but I did not have time to use that amenity.  Gas at Tanforan Shell is a tad more expensive than at other gas stations, but I find the convenient location of the station, its brightly lit and clean appearance, its excellent car wash, its 24/7 hours, it's well-stocked convenience store, and its able employees well worth the price of its products and services.
