The contractor's over-reaction to a simple problem was completely unjustified from my point of view. Prior to that, relations were professional and cordial.
I paid the invoice in-full after a week passed even though the job was not finished. I included with my check a letter expressing my concerns about the situation. After two weeks, there has been no further contact from the contractor. I had to modify, screen, and mount the doors myself. This wasn't difficult, but it was inconvenient and time-consuming.
In fairness, GMC completed five previous projects successfully and to my satisfaction. There weren't any issues and I paid promptly within 7 days of invoice.
