WinSol Groundworks

We are very happy with WinSol. Worked with Will from estimate through design, planning, installation and follow-up. He is professional, prompt and fair. Our yard looks beautiful, everything works as planned, and he followed up with more than we expected several months after the project. The crew who did the work were efficient, respectful and they were patient and flexible with some last minute adjustments. Will is great to work with. Would be happy to work with them again!

We selected WinSol from three contractors to redo our front yard and driveway. They were the highest priced, but worked with us a bit on pricing. The work was done in June, and summer plantings are **** ** new plants, but we're hopeful all will survive. Strengths are responsiveness, very skillful and hard workers, and good quality plants. Weaknesses are errors in measuring/pricing, late for appointments, didn't accept credit cards, and changed terms of final invoice. Overall the job was well done, and we'd probably use WinSol again.

Went well. About 3 weeks to complete project; took a week longer because it was very hot in July and they were waiting on planting the grass and other plants until weather cooled down a bit. Project looked very nice and they made changes as needed per my request. They were easy to work with. 2 or 3 plants looked like they were dying and they replaced them. Prices seemed fair.

Absolutely outstanding in every respect.  We got three bids - all three were competitive, but we picked Winsol because Nick was very professional and helpful, and the bid was competitive, detailed, and easy to understand.  We dealt with Nick Winn from start to finish.  He is not only a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional guy, but was extremely service oriented, responsive, and flexible when we asked for changes.  The crew was also superb.  They arrived early (before 8:00 a.m.) everyday and worked tirelessly until the job was done.  They, too, were professional, friendly, efficient, flexible, and service oriented.  The crew also cleaned up every night before they left the jobsite.  Equally important, though, the finished product is gorgeous! Can't believe the transformation!  Beautiful plant selection and placement.  The hardscape is rich and inviting, and the masonry on the barbecue and fire pit is well-crafted and exactly what we asked for.  Not a single complaint!  We would recommend Winsol Groundworks to anyone looking for excellent landscape services!

Will got back to us quickly with a quote which was very competitively priced. Jose and his crew were very prompt and courteous and completed all the work within the timeline that was quoted. No question I would use Windsol Groundworks again and would recommend them to friends and neighbors.

I could not be happier about the result of this project. Nick and the rest of the Winsol team are absolutely fantastic to work with. Nick, owner, came by our project every day to make sure that everything was on track and that his staff had clear direction. All of the workers were very courteous and polite. The team worked very hard and very fast. Every day they cleaned up after themselves and left the worksite in great condition. Donna, the landscape designer created a fantastic plan for our project. Our yard went from bare dirt to beautifully landscaped in under two weeks.

Our project included concrete patio, walkways, retaining walls, grass, plants, cobble....you name it. Winsol met every time commitment and the budgeted amount never wavered. There is something to be said for working with people who do what they say they are going to do. Especially when they do it well!

We have had other major landscaping projects in the past and they were dreadful by comparison, even though they cost a lot more.

We will absolutely use Winsol on our next project and would recommend that others to do the same. You will not be disappointed.

We scheduled an appointment for an estimate from Will Solinsky, who called to let me know that he was running 15 minutes late, which I appreciated.  When he arrived he listened to my general ideas and then quickly suggested his vision of what he thought would work in the yard.  Within 30 minutes of his visit, he provided me with an initial estimate of the job.  I contrast this with one of his major competitors, who refused to provide any estimate or concepts of what he envisioned could work with our yard unless we committed to hiring him as design architect for what I considered to be an exceptionally high fee.
In follow-up conversations. I asked Will about an Angie's List coupon that offered a design consultation and plans for jobs over $20,000.  Will arranged for us to meet with Leah Bray, who met with us for an initial consultation.  She was excellent, quickly providing a draft of the project, including recommendations for plants that would work well in the yard.  She and Will worked great as a team in suggesting refinements to both the proposed landscaping (including use of boulders) and hardscaping (stamped concrete patio and pathway), as well suggesting the use of lighting.  We were initially hesitant about the lighting, but are now happy that we included it as part of the project.
Winsol's crew appeared first thing in the morning on the scheduled day for demolition.  The crew, led by Jose, was exceptional: professional, courteous, neat and efficient.  We were amazed at how organized and coordinated they were in terms of demolition, building the wall and concrete hardscape, installing the drip irrigation, and preparing the yard for planting.  They were fast and timely, finishing the project on schedule.  
We highly recommend Winsol and definitely would use them again.

They were punctual and very informative.  Did the repairs quickly on the sprinkler system and helped identify a separate problem that there was an underground leak.  We were able to have someone come in and repair it.  I would definitely use their service again.  Very courteous and fair.

Everything went perfect and Winsol has done an excellent job for us whenever we call.

I had never even heard of WinSol when I started this process of renovating my landscape. I found them on Angie's List along with two other top-rated landscape companies located in the Sacramento area. Eventually, it was down to WinSol and Lavish Gardens. Both were great throughout the bidding process. It was a hard choice but the difference was the responsiveness and earnestness of Will Solinsky. He proved to be just as responsive and earnest throughout the job, and even two months later when I contacted him about replacing a few plants that had died, as he was when he was bidding on the job. There wasn't a bit of difference between the Will who bid for the job and the Will whom I called long after the job was done and paid for. I think that speaks volumes about the integrity of him and the company.
WinSol Groundworks was fantastic from beginning to end. I am super pleased with the process of dealing with them, the way their workers did the job, the result of their work, and their follow-up. Every step of the process was done to my exact (and demanding) specifications. Will checked in with me almost daily to ensure that I was pleased with the job at every step.
Leah Bray is a landscape architect who works with WinSol. She was a pleasure to work with on the design. I would work with her again without hesitation.
WinSol?s foreman, Jose, was as friendly, professional, and earnest as Will. Perhaps like many of you, I have found that many contractors have great sales people but when the work is actually being done the sales person isn't there and the experience with the work crew is very different than the experience with the sales person. That was NOT my experience with WinSol. Jose led a crew of extremely hard working guys who were competent, polite, and very respectful of my property and my neighbors. I was extremely impressed with Jose and the entire crew!
I haven't mentioned David Winn, who was involved with the hardscape. He was copied on all of Will's messages and became more involved when the conversation was about the concrete. I never met David. When he came to visit, I wasn't at home. My wife said he was as personable and professional as Will.
The bottom line is that this is a company for which I have a lot of RESPECT. They will be the first and perhaps only people I contact in the future for any kind of landscaping work.

We met with Nicholas from Winsol Groundworks. Both he and his crew were professional. He arrived to all our meetings on time and was very attentive to the suggestions my wife and I provided. He listed out potential gotchas in our ideas and suggested appropriate workarounds for it. He also suggested design ideas some of which we adopted. Every change was properly documented in an estimate with the cost associated with the change. We even changed the  work order to remove some items after the contract was signed and Winsol was accommodating to that too.
Before the work by Winsol, the yard was graded towards the house and  would have water stagnate all around it. A week after the work was completed we had rains and the drains/grading was tested and it worked great! no standing water!
Nick had a  couple of samples prepared for the stamped concrete for us to approve before it was poured at my home so that we knew exactly what we were going to get. The details were done well especially the hand painted grout line for the flagstone finish. Overall a great finish.
The crew was careful not to damage anything when they were working and left the job site clean every day.

The concrete job was better than I expected. Mr. Winn was onsite, explained what was being done, time frames, and showed me two samples of the stains they could use to create a realistic stone color. A+, 5 stars for the concrete job related to their punctuality, professionalism, quality, and responsiveness.. It has been 2 1/2 years since and no problems. I recommend them for concrete work and would use them again for concrete work. Working with Will Solinsky was not the same experience. He was late to meet me on 3 occasions, each time was at least 30 minutes though I was meeting him at his request and on my lunch break. We had three surprises: he told me the drip lines would be underground in the original quote ( I had to force this issue and he acted like he would do me a favor by eventually agreeing to do it. This is irritating as he failed to remember it and acted like it was my error), the one week job ended up taking 3 weeks to complete, and Will mismeasured the size of the yard (more sod was needed than quoted. How do you not measure correctly????). They did a good job but there was a lot of nuisance issues. I have since put a pool in and hired a different landscaper to do my yard. Night and day difference. I do not recommend landscaping services organized/quoted by Will. Too many annoyances, delays and surprises.

Will arrived on time for a  discussion of what I wanted to accomplish in my back yard.  We had removed approximately 1300 sq feet of grass, and wanted to convert most of the area to accommodate a fire pit, along with a pathway to the pool and patio with decomposed granite, leaving some room for planters as well.  We also wanted to have the planters rototilled for us, as we were going to do our own planting and bark installation.   By the end of the day I had an estimate via email. (Another contractor took a week to get his bid to me.)   Bid was detailed and included everything we had discussed.  I did have cheaper bids but Will was so professional and thorough that I felt confident in using his services, and getting a quality outcome the first time.  I have fallen for cheaper bids in the past, and found that the adage "Cheap man pays twice" is always something to keep in mind when investing in a contractors services.  Each day the workers were on time for work.  And at the end of each day, things were cleaned up, and put away.  When I inquired to Will about the removal of additional dirt, he was at my house very quickly to view and note what I wanted fixed.  Installation continued as planned, and we are enjoying our new space!

Will at Winsol responded rapidly to my initial contact. He came out when he said he would and together we developed a rough plan on which he was able to give me an estimate. The estimate was within the range of what I thought it should be so after one more visit to iron out details, we signed a contract scheduled to begin after I had gotten approval from our homeowners association. Within just a couple of weeks after our first meeting we were able to begin the job.  Will introduced his foreman Jesus who worked with us throughout the week. Jesus and his crew were very productive, cleaned up each day and kept to the five day schedule,  We pretty much stuck to the original estimated price exceeding in only when I asked for changes.
We are very pleased with the job, glad to get rid of all our lawns and the place looks great.  I would highly recommend Winsol.

Professional, personable, knowledgable, punctual, and truly nice people.  What more could one ask for?

We asked Winsol to provide us an estimate to replace our front yard landscaping to make it more drought tolerant. Will Solinsky from Winsol came to our house and reviewed our landscape plan with us. He provided some very helpful suggestions regarding the design, and later that day emailed us a written estimate of the cost to implement the revised plan. His estimate was competitive with estimates we had received from other contractors although all estimates were above the amount we ultimately decided we were willing to spend on the project. We asked Will to work with us further to lower the cost and he was quickly able to provide suggestions regarding choice of materials and contouring that reduced the cost but did not materially alter the overall look of the design. Once the contract was signed Winsol was able to begin the work within a week. All work was completed within 2 weeks. Everyone with the company was friendly but professional throughout the project. Each evening when they had completed their work for the day they made sure our drive and walkways were clean and free of obstacles. Will was able to provide good suggestions for alternative plants when he found that some plants specified in our plan were not currently available locally. The work has been completed for a little over a week now and we are very pleased with the quality and appearance of the final product. Since the planting was done during very hot weather we were concerned about plant survival but so far Winsol has been great. They have been out at least twice to check on the health of the plants and have already replaced one that appeared to not be doing well. We would without reservation recommend Will and company to anyone requiring landscaping services.

excellent from scope to conclusion.  all arrived on time, handled changes well, met deadlines, coordination and communication very easy. good workers and on site supervisor were very responsive.

Will and his crew were prompt, professional and efficient.  They did a great deal of work in four days.  Everyone involved was top-notch!!!!  They listened to our ideas and made useful suggestions.  All contacts were helpful and friendly. They stand by their work and are replacing some of the lawn that did not flourish. The finished project is beautiful and has received lots of compliments!  We will definitely call on them again and will recommend them to others!
