But, when we installed the window next to it, all the condition problems fell into third and fourth place. The window had a threshold depth that was too wide for our home, throwing the 1/2" drywall stop a full 1/4" into the room, past the studs... and the doors were the same height as our old doors. We hadn't even noticed until the window was next to them -- we were focused on just the loveliness of a door that opened and closed -- our old doors were truly garbage.
When we notified Warren, he came out and tried to get us to buy some trim to make it look like the doors weren't too short. He, at that time, explained the fact the window wouldn't fit our sill. Again, he suggested the window to us.
But we never signed off on threshold depth, it's the one measurement we didn't sign off on.
We did, however sign off on 80" doors -- and got 77" doors, instead. All the doors in our home are 80" doors and it was a requirement our new door match the topline -- unlike our janky old doors.
Warren then told us he'd get the correct window and door for an additional charge and install fee. Troy was standing there when Warren made this offer. I consider that a jaw-dropper, myself.
He then told us he was not going to, and I quote, "eat the cost of a window and a door." This was entirely his error and he owns the company.
We hired him for his "20 years of professional experience" and he either can't operate a tape measure or he's a crook, unless there's a new business practice where the actual documents you sign aren't the documents that dictate what gets purchased and installed in your home.
When we demanded a window that fit and a door of the correct size, Warren and Gaby stopped responding.
When I wouldn't leave them alone, they finally had Troy tell me they wanted to come over and talk about trim options again.
When I demanded arbitration, in writing, Gaby called me on the phone and told me she was recording the call, which I refused permission to do -- she then proceeded to scream at me for ten minutes while I screamed back at her -- because here's what she asked for: A signed non-disclosure agreement that would give us all our money back, let them take their window and their door and leave two holes in our wall, and gag us -- such that if we ever spoke about it, other than to say "the situation was handled amicably," Gaby and Warren could sue us for $500 per incident, even if what we said was demonstrably true and not defamatory.
This was, in effect, a gag order in order to get a refund after they refused warranty service to fix their error.
These people seem like hilarious crooks -- gypsies -- or maybe they are the dumbest business owners I've ever personally met. I am not alleging it's one or the other, but I simply cannot see any reason to believe they're anything else.
We trusted them -- we called professionals -- we paid top dollar and we paid in full -- and they installed doors that aren't what we asked for and a window which cannot fit our wall and they will not honor their contractual agreement and thus far have not only stated their refusal to cooperate with their own mandated arbitration, but they're demanding a gag order and threatening a counter-suit for damages they have never incurred.
They are, starting next week, holding up a kitchen remodel for which we have scrimped and saved and planned, literally, for years -- and lost from us an additional $10 to 12,000 worth of future business -- regardless of the outcome, which, at this point, looks like will be us being forced to wait while they ignore arbitration and then take them to superior court.
Which is super uncool for us, because all we've ever asked for is what we paid for and all they've tried to do since they screwed up is try to get us to pay more -- and worse, when we gave them the option to either give us a good window and the correct doors or take their property and give us our money back?
They chose the cheaper option for themselves -- a refund -- but only if we sign a gag order, which leaves two holes in our home, and which would -- legally preclude me from even doing this: Posting the absolute truth on Angie's List.
I would never lie to hurt a business or a person, or for money, or to otherwise deceive anyone -- but I also cannot and would never recommend anyone ever do business with Warren and Gaby Sizemore, and The Window and Door Shop of Sacramento, CA -- based on what I know will be my sole business interaction with them.
Our worst nightmare is coming true, right now, because we trusted them and we paid in full.
=====================================================================================
Here is my response to every line of Gaby and Warren Sizemore's response to my original review of their service: (they are in quotes; I'm in parentheses)
"Our customer's complete satisfaction comes first."
(He said, "I am not going to eat the cost of a window and a door." She said, ?F*ck you; sue us.?)
"At all times, we perform all of our work as contracted."
(They not only didn?t get the dimensions correct for both products we ordered, they also refused to go to their own binding arbitration, both of which were their contractual obligations.)
"As everyone is aware, there are simply individuals who will not accept a view that is contrary to their belief."
(This isn't about belief because a contract is an agreement and numbers are real. This is about their error.)
"With respect to this particular customer, he recently hired The Window and Door Shop to replace an existing door in an existing opening."
(I did, with the stipulation the door and window would have a top line level with the rest of the house ? because we were replacing short doors, and given Warren's stipulation "an existing door opening" meant he "didn't need to carve into the beam" -- his own words -- which would cost extra. He didn't need to carve into the beam -- he only needed to measure correctly.)
"The work was accomplished as requested based on the terms of an approved order, and an agreement signed by the client. "
(no, it wasn't because the door is 77" and the window is 1/4" too deep for the sill, and we signed for an 80" door and a window with no listed sill depth -- we purchased the window Warren recommended to go next to the door.)
"Due to the work being completed to his satisfaction, the client paid our bill in full."
(no, we paid in full because our contract demanded it in at least three places and made us liable for damages and legal fees if we refused payment, even for warranty service issues, of which we had plenty, so we paid in full. This assertion by the Sizemores is a plain false statement.)
"He subsequently decide
"Our customer's complete satisfaction comes first. At all times, we perform all of our work as contracted. As everyone is aware, there are simply individuals who will not accept a view that is contrary to their belief. With respect to this particular customer, he recently hired The Window and Door Shop to replace an existing door in an existing opening. The work was accomplished as requested based on the terms of an approved order, and an agreement signed by the client. Due to the work being completed to his satisfaction, the client paid our bill in full. He subsequently decided he wanted a taller door. Because of this, he approached us with threats that if we did not give him a taller door, with the required revised framing and installation at no charge to him, he would make our lives miserable. Despite completely fulfilling our contractual obligations, we had agreed to refund him his money and simply asked that he refrain from activities meant to harm us, since didn’t do anything wrong. He has refused to do so and has continued to threaten us with excessive profanity and disrespect. Please accept our apology for your being subjected to this matter, and we ask that any decisions you make about us be based on direct interaction with our company."
We are quite please with their service and quality of our closet doors.
We would definetely recommend them and will use them in the future.
