I take some responsibility for "assuming" certain things and not asking in several cases the right questions. If you are going to use this company here's some things you need to know/ask/define:
-get a good definition of work to be performed and how much time the actual hands on work will take.
-don't assume (like I did) that a days work is 8 hours
-since part of the 8 hour day is commute time (which is NOT in the contract) get an explicit amount of time stated.
-other than the commute time what other time is subtracted from actual hands on work time (breaks, lunch, etc.)
-when the lead representative says they will be buy to check on progress hold them to it. After my initial estimate
I never saw him again.
I actually agreed to pay for two "days" of work. The specific work "defined" was estimated to take one and a half days with the extra half day to be used for "extra" things not written into the contract (silly me). NET, NET - paid for 2 days, no extra items accomplished. Actual time spent working on the job 10-12 hours depending on who you believe. COMPANY IS EXPENSIVE WHICH I KNEW AND WAS WILLING TO PAY. THOUGHT A DAY WAS EIGHT HOURS TIMES TWO. AGAIN SILLY ME.
Once the work was scheduled, the crew arrived, and the arborist stayed with them for about a hour and directed their work. They worked steadily and hard. They put out safety cones/traffic signs to direct traffic around their equipment. They completely cleaned up after themselves and left the yard tidy.
I was pleased with the quality of the work, their communication with me about the work process, and their attention to detail.
