He is a good worker and seems to be artistic . Prior to beginning the job he made many promises - The landscape planner suggested a trellis around the AC. He felt that we should put some sort of board and he would get bamboo and use that as a pattern. That never happened - not the trellis or the art work. He was going to fix the back gate so that it would open for us. He never did that. We requested that another board be placed against the gate he built because the gate seemed flimsy. That was never done. He finished planting the plants. We had to go around and put into ground a little bit better. He did not use a weed barrier cloth. Just dirt and then the bark on top. My yard is small so it would have been nice to have the cloth. We feel that in a couple of years when we have to replace the bark we will use the weed barrier cloth. If you hire him be strong and tell him exactly what you want, My suggestion is when he asks what your budget is - ask him how much the job will cost. We had plans and when we said that our budget was $15,000 (We meant for both the front and the back) - We are sure he added much more to reach that amount. We have a front yard to do and also another side yard that hopefully will have a vegetable garden. He has indicated the plans he has for the front and side yard, which we think might be a little more than we need. He wants to tear the front porch out and put matching steps from the street. We'll look for another landscaper - there seem to be many on Angie's List.

Gene's estimate was MUCH lower than the others we got. He is an artist when it comes to design. He and his crew were always on time, worked fast, and cleaned up at the end of each day. His work is beautiful. The only thing we requested was a LOW maintenance yard. Our yard is very big since we live on 5 acres. Low maintenance is what we got, everything is automatically watered, the trees and shrubs are very pretty and some plants are always providing color. If you are looking for landscaper give Gene a call, you will not be sorry.
