The quote was for $350 approximately. The quote included a small line hidden in some back pages about materials not being included in the quote, but included the time and travel to take my things across town to move into a house. So far so good. As the scheduled move day approached, no one called to confirm the move day or time and so I called on the Thursday before the scheduled Saturday to confirm and got someone who seemed annoyed that I was calling to confirm the day and ask when I could expect the movers. They did arrive on time and immediately went to work moving things. The crew chief immediately came to me and pushed a bunch of papers in my face and mumbled some things about where I should sign and initial and wanted me to initial places that I could not do yet as the initials were to confirm that they had loaded everything and had not done any damage to the apartment in loading. The crew chief was unpleasant and argumentative when I pointed out that I couldn't initial those things until he had actually finished the loading and I had inspected the apartment. He also asked me how I was going to pay, which was really not a question since he then told me my only option was to pay by cash. I pointed out that the forms he handed me seemed to allow for paying by charge card but he rudely insisted that cash was the only acceptable form of payment. He later admitted that he actually forgot to bring the card imprint machine and had really lied to me about cash being the only accepted form of payment. The move actually went fine as far as the speed and efficiency of the workers, but then when they got to the destination I was presented a bill for $782!! More than twice what I was quoted and there were charges for over $400 of packaging materials. They wrapped everything in multiple rolls of plastic sheeting and gobs of tape and I was paying for that even though it was unecessary and uncalled for in my opinion just to move a few pieces of furniture across town. I had already had an argument with the crew chief about asking me to sign a materials cost sheet which he refused to total up and explain to me, saying he could not know how many rolls of tape he was going to use. One of the workers apologized on the side for the huge cost, saying that the crew chief was crazy and that he believed I had a lot of money so was instructing them to use a lot of plastic and tape to jack up the bill. Needless to say, I would not recommend this company for moving to anyone, but if you are going to use them, make sure you tell them not to use the plastic and tape to wrap everything that doesn't need to be wrapped as they will spring the costs on you after the move is done. I sent an email to the rep who provided the quote telling them about the very unpleasant crew chief and complaining about their fraudulent practice of charging more for the packing than the move itself, but they gave me no satisfaction and did not get back to on my complaint.
