We wasted $2000 on a design that was not our vision or what we had hoped for in our backyard. We were convinced to spend $2000 on a final design with the assurance that they understood our vision. The design was delivered to us after all fees were issued. This design was not a representation of what we desired nor a representation of what we discussed. To make it worse were were reminded that there are no agreements in place. Smooth talking cost us $2000 and we encourage that everyone keep a detailed account of your conversations and deliverables for financial transactions, and yes, don't forget to have that agreement in place. P.S. I should have paid more attention the 2.6 star rating on Google. Lesson learn't.

Scott was great to work with and paid attention to all the details, and designed landscaping that would be easy to take care of and thrive in our yard -shaded with large trees in front and sunny in back. Our neighbors have all remarked on how good the new yard makes the house look, and we're enjoying spending time in our yard much more. I would definitely recommend him.

I interviewed several landscape architects and all inclusive companies to completely re-landscape both my front and back yards and re-pour my driveway. I chose Scott Smoot for several reasons. He lives in my neighborhood and knows the area well. Also, I was able to see several examples of his work in the neighborhood, in person and I felt he could design something original for me . Not to mention, he came highly recommended by a co-worker.
He drew designs for my front and back yard and then we were able to go over them together and talk about things I liked and disliked. He has no problem sharing his creative ideas and thoughts, but he also listened to my opinions as well. I felt like I had just enough input and never felt pushed or coerced into anything I didn't want.
Once the work was started it went pretty much on schedule. The subcontractors he used he has worked with for a long time and they were great! J.A. Valley construction removed all the concrete and then re-poured the colored and stamped driveway and the patio pavers. They were on time every morning, were meticulous about clean up and got the job done in a timely manner.
Perri Electric ran the electrical for my spa. Frank Perri was basically on call for me when the spa was delivered and came right over to do the install.
The carpenter Scott used to build a custom bench and privacy screens for me, is a true craftsman. He did beautiful work.
Scott did a great job keeping me informed of the progress and time line of the project. He also went out of his way to take me to the nursery to show me choices of stone, pavers and plants to be used. He never had a problem with my many questions.
Scott Smoot loves what he does and it shows in his work. He is a true artist and readily admits he does his best work if he is allowed some creative license. I think a client who likes to be very involved every step of the way, or who is very regimented, may struggle with Scott's creative personality a bit.
I love my yards now and I would highly recommend Smoot Landscaping!
