The finished project exceeded my expectations. The effect on the back yard is amazing. Juan and his partner were hard working, did a great job, and thoroughly cleaned up when they were finished. I would highly recommend!

Tony came over and talked to us about the deck. Jarrett came over and did the final measuring.
Then Mike and Ron came over and did the work.
Mike explained every step in great detail and was very helpful.
They even moved the furniture off the deck so we could power wash it when they were done.
Everyone was very helpful and nice.
The pergola is beautiful and we couldn't be happier with the results.

Right from the start we were impressed with the way Tony the salesman, listened to our ideas and drew a plan to incorporate them all.  Before construction, the designer, ( I think his name was Jason) came out to make sure the plans were functional, and had some additional great ideas for placement of columns, color, etc.  He took a lot of time to make sure we were happy with the design.  Next came the permit process which they handled quickly.  Installers were friendly, nice guys, hard working, and a joy to have doing the project.  We had two problems upon completion which were both resolved satisfactorily by the company, although it took a couple calls and return visits.  The first problem was having the inspector sign off on the completion, as the structure was not correctly "bonded" to the electrical pool equipment.  The first and second electrical bonds were not approved, but the inspector approved the third bonding.  There were also 5 rafters that had been split during the installation of the brackets which support the beam supporting the cover.  Two different installers came out before the repair was completed, but at the end, all was done well.  We would definitely recommend them (We had six other estimates, but Clark Wagaman Designs was the best firm for listening to our ideas, and making them a reality.  They truly do "design" as well as build.

Let me start by discussing the actual structure first. It seems like the minimum quality I would hope for. There is one thing about it that I am wondering about the stability and that is what I will discuss here. Basically on the top, there is a cover that goes over the electric stuff to cover it from rain, etc. I had my fan placed in the middle so the panel runs down the middle on top. That panel is creased all the way down the center- so it makes me wonder whether the panel is strong enough to hold the fan... Or if, when installing, they put in a messed up piece. Either way- I'm not happy with it. If it isn't strong enough, that is a serious problem and if it is strong enough, I don't recall paying for a bent panel.
So I decided to take a look at the fan. I got on my ladder and it seems pretty sturdy and solidly in there. The fan is screwed in pretty tight so it causes a slight pull down, if that makes any sense.
The second thing that makes me question is that they said they were going to install it to a certain point. It is about 6 inches short... Not major- but still.
Regarding service- all seemed great until it came to my day of install. I took the day off work and waited and waited and no one showed up. So I called and they transferred me to the project manager who told me the permit hadn't been approved yet. Ok- so we rescheduled. So had to take another day off work.
That second time the guys showed up and installed in about 4 hours. I was still concerned because they didn't have the permit paperwork. But they were very professional and nice as h***.
One last thing about the install- they cut off a piece of my rafter- which I knew they would. But it is completely crooked and looks like crap.
I paid in full ($3500), w exception of permit, and later received a bill for the permit. I paid it promptly but accidentally shorted them $100 on a $4000 total project. I got a nasty letter from them stating I was 90 days past due... I was like "uhhh... You just installed 2 weeks ago." So I sent them their $100 immediately w a note. I also called and left a message about my dissatisfaction and never heard anything from them. I should bill them for me taking extra day off work!
I'd probably go elsewhere.

After I had the house painted, I dealt with Clark Wagaman who did the patio covers, and I’ll tell you, the building inspector came out three times.  He came out when Clark came out and did all the blue prints because we decided to build another cover over the sliding glass door to the master bedroom, because he said if you do it now it’s more of an all-inclusive price and you will get a better deal.  So I said for $600 more, yeah, let’s do it.  Well he forgot to submit the blueprints for that.  So when the building inspector came out to inspect, he says, “Hey, this wasn’t in the original plan,” so he didn’t pass it.  That was no big deal; Clark fixed it.  The building inspector came out again and said the overhang on the little patio cover which was part solid and part lattice, he said per the code, the solid part coming out from wall, because it was attached to the wall, cannot be more than 25% of the distance between the support beams or something like that, and we were past that.  So I thought, “Are you serious?  That was the whole point of putting the patio covers up, so that the rain didn’t blow in.”  Well the only thing we could do was take out the solid part and put all lattice.  The lattice doesn’t count.  Ok, well, Clark came back and fixed that.  When the building inspector came back, we were missing three screws on the support column.  I called them up and they said, “Well if we have to come back it’s going to be a $135 charge.”  So I had to call up Clark again and I told him, “You’re not going to believe this …”  and he came back out again.  Clark was excellent, excellent!  No argument, nothing, just, “What do we have to do to fix it? I’ll take care of it.”  When he said he would be here he was here, they came, they left, it was beautiful.  He even brought in new ideas when working on the blueprints.  There was customer guidance and options.

Not too much negative other than their fairly high prices. But on a positive note, they came to my house professionally dressed and impressed me. But because the quote was a bit high I wasn't sure if I wanted to use them or not.
Response from Clark Wagaman Designs

"We provided one of the most fair prices in the valley for this estimate. The customer requested custom column bases that would require a mason and special order veneer rock to complete. A custom application like this can be pricey , but the actual cost of the patio cover / awning without the request for a custom column was extremely fair and shouldn't be considered as high priced. It was not, we continue to provide the best service at the lowest possible prices in the Sacramento Valley. I personally reviewed this quote and confirm it is nearly 1/2 the price of our nearest competitor. Clark Wagaman"

The service was really good. It did take a while for them to get the cover in. They did the work quickly. The only thing that I was disappointed with is that it has no insulation and it does get hot underneath. I wish they would have explained how hot it was going to be.
Response from Clark Wagaman Designs

"I personally sold this cover to the [member name removed]. I always explain the difference between insulated and non insulated options for our customers. They did not want to spend the extra money for the insulated patio cover option. [member name removed] was never present during the estimate or the installation. He works out of country and was only available occasionally by phone. Clark Wagaman"

They did the installation in two days. They were very professional and quick on the job as well. The men were very friendly and worked with me every step of the way. They installed a solid patio cover with nine skylights.

Since our first rain came a few weeks back, we have called 2 times to have the leaking gutters sealed.  What good are gutters if they leak?? They have not returned our calls even thought the office people said they would call us back to take care of it.  It is an easy fix, but they are dropping the ball.  We have a warranttee with them on the patio, and if they ignore us with this leaking gutter situation, will we ever get any help with the waranttee in the future if needed?? Or is the warranttee no good??  Not happy customers
Response from Clark Wagaman Designs

"We stand behind all of our installations. We always accommodate all of our customers and are on our way to re-seal these gutters at this time. I apologize for the brief delay. Clark Wagaman"

Their estimate was high and they did not show up on time. They were not really friendly and acted like they did not want the work.

"We do not service the Oakland area. We have never given an estimate to this person. We are one of the most cost effective and reasonably priced companies in the Greater Sacramento Area. This is a bogus review. Clark Wagaman"

Clark is a rockstar in this industry.  Our patio cover is amazing and a highlight in our backyard.  Clark brings a different element to patio covers than other companies. Our neighbor recently had a patio cover installed by a different company and it looks nice, but it's the typical boring looking patio cover most folks have in their yards.  Clark went outside the box and gave our cover character that really accents our once dull looking yard.  They do all the work as far as permits and other things go.  I am very impressed with this company and would highly reccomend anyone looking to have a cover installed to use the services of this company.  The staff were are very professional as well and were quick in response to my concerns and expectations.  The quality of the cover is also outstanding and provides a great place to retreat from the suns rays and the heat.
Thanks again Clark your company rocks!!

Salesman Brian came for first appointment and explained options, colors, materials, prices etc. and was very helpful in making decisions.  Clark came for second appointment and carefully reviewed original order and made suggestions, took more measurements and finalized plans for final design and information to be submitted for city building permit.  (Received copies of all documentation which was professionally executed and impressive).  Work began on promised date and was completed the next day.  Installed a half covered/half lattice 24 ft patio cover and the second cover over the bedroom slider.  BEAUTIFUL JOB!!!  One small glitch where an end cap did not fit properly on a support beam.  E-mailed them a photo and they promptly came back and fixed the area.  The two gentlemen who did the actual installation were professional, efficient, informative, and left a spotless patio after the work was complete.  The price included fan/light installation and upgrades to insulated covers as the back of my house gets the full hot sun all day.  After viewing the final result, it was worth every cent as they did an AWESOME JOB!!!

Clark came out and gave us a quote for a fantastic patio cover.  He went over what the materials were and helped me to understand what my choices were so I could choose appropriately.  We got a few more quotes from other companies and decided to scale back.  Clark came again to draw a new simpler plan and work directly with my husband this time.  We signed, put down half and scheduled for a few weeks out.  The materials didn't arrive by the start date, so they started a day late.  The subcontractors were very nice and showed up in the late morning. They installed over 2 days.
When they finished we noticed that the lattice work and covered patio did not line up as per the plan, the subcontractor was trying to give us an extra few inches for the covered patio or something. CW Designs was easy to work with the correct the issue. We had them come out a week or so later to correct the problem. The  subs were scheduled to arrive between 9-11am and didn't arrive until 5 with no call.  Luckily there was one person home to let them in.  They fixed it very quickly and left. I had trouble getting a hold of people when I called to find out if they were coming the second time.  I called and never received a call back.  There are still alot of metal shavings in my backyard, but I think that is normal and I would call the area clean overall.
The quality of the materials is phenomenal.  Clark has a wonderful sense of style and what can be done with a space.
