A few weeks later I tried to do that and couldn't figure it out. I called Derrick and he took the time to walk me through the steps over the phone. I would definitely recommend this company.
He was courteous, very responsive to questions we had, and was able to replace the mechanism fairly easily. I was impressed when he installed the lock that it didn't feel quite "right" to him, and he took it out and made an adjustment so that it works perfectly. His knowledge level seems quite high. He advised us that we had called before the lock became inoperable, which is a very lengthy and expensive repair. This is valuable knowledge as we have three doors with the same lock.
This was all done, and he seemed pleased that we were Angie's List members and gave us a 5% discount as his website promised.
We are quite pleased that we called Keys Plus-Midtown.
Kudos to both Derrick and to Angie's list.
This is a buyer beware note. If you don?t need a follow up/corrective visit from Keys Plus, you?ll be fine, otherwise buyer beware.
In late January 2013, I purchased a new (to me) home and wanted to have all locks rekeyed. I found Derrick at Keys Plus on Angie?s List with good reviews, so I gave him a call. We scheduled an appointment for the day escrow closed and I took possession. He came out as scheduled, rekeyed my locks and indicated the security door lock was wearing out, that it might need to be replaced if it started to give me problems. It did, 3 weeks later. Again I called Derrick and he promptly came out and replaced the lockset for $320.00.
Fast forward about 3 months. I needed a family member to get into the house, but their key wouldn?t work in the security door. Odd, it was one of the keys Derrick had cut. My key and my daughter?s work just fine. I had a replacement key cut at Home Depot. It wouldn?t work in the security door lock. It will open the other rekeyed locks, just not the security door. I stopped by a different locksmith. They cut a new key using a more precise method than the grinder usually used. Again, it will work in the regular door, not in the security door.
So far, I?ve called and have spoken to Derrick at Keys Plus twice about the issue. I?ve texted him once and received a confirmation text back. I?ve confirmed the issue and my contact information all three times. He still hasn?t found time to contact me to come correct the issue. This includes two days when I was working from home and he could have come at any time. These communications cover approximately 3 weeks. Needless to say, this is completely unacceptable. After spending hundreds of dollars for rekeying and then a new lock, to not be able to get this issue resolve?.buyer beware if you use Keys Plus and need corrective visit.

Its hard for me to understand how you could write such a scathing review of my company without any service, and without even a second attempt to contact us. Life and business can be very busy and sometimes flat out hectic, we try, but we cannot be perfect. I apologize for the unfortunate fact that I did not get your message, but I am honestly very troubled by the fact that you all but attacked us for missing a phone call.
