Golden State Inspection Services

Summary: Zero communication after the inspection. I hate to leave a negative review but I believe this must be done given my experience. I had an inspector come by on 2/26 for pest control. He was considerate and thorough (the only reason I am giving two stars instead of just one), and he told me I would receive the complete quote on the following Monday. Well, that did not happen. After waiting on the quote for a whole week, I called the company on 3/5 and let them know that I didn't receive my quote. They said they would look into my case and call me back right away. Well, that did not happen either. So on 3/9, I called the company again to inquire on the status of my quote (I actually had to help them backtrack to find my record!). I was told that they would contact the inspector who came to my house and call me back ASAP. Well, today is 3/20 and I haven't heard back yet. I am giving up.

After having mold cleaned out of our HVAC system, we finally got to scheduling a mold test to confirm that the problem was resolved. When I called they were pleasant and helpful, and able to schedule an appointment within a few days. The inspector arrive slightly early, and I was running late taking my son to school, so he did the ambient air sample while he waited for us, and then came in to do the indoor air sample after I got home. It was quick, and he was very professional. We discussed additional possible samples that I was considering adding, and he was clear that it was all my decision, and they would never push extra sampling on a customer. I decided not to do the extra swabs. The turn-around was supposed to be 24 hours, but when I hadn't heard anything after 30 hrs I had to call them, and then wait for a call back to get an oral summary of my results. It took a entire additional day to get the report by email. That delay getting the report, when they had repeated several times that it would be 24 hrs, is why I only gave a B for punctuality. I would have been happier being told 24-48 hours from the get-go. The report and clearance letter were easy to read and understand.

Joe Shisler was wonderful! He was thorough with his inspection, and also, critically, did a great job of explaining everything to us in terms we could understand. I'm a first-time homebuyer and don't yet know a ton about home maintenance and repair, although I'm learning, and he was great at making sure we understood the report.

Craig did an excellent job and allowed me to walk around with him, observing him and then he answered my questions at the end of the time. He did a thorough job and made good recommendations
