My elderly parents called Guy Alcartado and his son, Bronson Alcartdo, at Central California Heat and Air. They came over and presented themselves well. Sold my parents a new central heat and air unit with installation. The work was completed in October 2013. Heater worked well during the winter. Then last summer (2014), when my parents started to use the AC, it had a condensation leak, which caused $23,000 in damage to the house. The installation was poor, as the condensation drain line was pitched up (forgot all about gravity), meaning the water had to flow upward and out the pipe to exit the house. Instead the water flowed out of the overflow, which is in the AC cabinet, and caused water damage to the house and wood flooring. During this ordeal, I find out that during the time he installed my parents central heat and air unit, Guy Alcartado at Central California Heat and Air did not have a valid contractors license, no workmen's comp insurance, and did the installation without a building permit. When I got a building inspector to check his work, he had not sealed the AC cabinet, not upgraded the disconnect box, not identified fuses and heat strips, not installed CO2 detectors (all of these things are required by code). No other AC repairmen wanted to have anything to do with fixing Guy's mess, so I had to track him down and get him to come back and make the repairs. Guy Alcartado refused to take responsibility for his faulty installation, and would not pay for any of the water damage caused by his substandard installation. No remorse, no admission of poor workmanship,. Just out to rip off elderly people. Luckily my parents had insurance, because Guy Alcartado sure didn't have insurance. My parents had to pay a $3,000 deductible to their homeowners insurance to make the needed water damage repairs for his bad work. Guy was not interested in paying the deductible either. It took quite of few phone calls and emails to get him to respond. But he finally did show up, and after a few visits, Guy and his son, Bronson Alcartado, did get the work done and it finally passed a building inspection (I got him to get a building permit after in order to complete the work). We did not get everything done until March 2015. After the work was done, I contacted the Contractors State License Board. All they can do is impose fines for them being out of compliance. So, BEWARE of GUY ALCARTDO and BRONSON ALCARTADO of CENTRAL CALIFORNIA HEAT AND AIR!! They do substandard work, wont' stand behind it, and they will blame you for damage caused by their work. DON'T LET THEM IN YOUR HOUSE.
