During the walkthrough at the end of his inspection it became very apparent to both my realtor and myself that Joe was very inexperienced. He consistently could not tell us if the few items he had pointed out were code violations or not. The walkthough was very superficial and provided very little information that we had not already made note of in our previous 30 minute walk through of the property - but Joe is a professional Home Inspector, and had spent 5 hours inspecting the property. At the end of the inspection, Joe admitted to us that he has not had very much experience and this was a learning situation for him. He presented me with a contract for $700 but I declined to sign stating that the service provided was not a professional inspection and not worth that amount. Joe stated that he would provide a detailed report that would show us his inspection was worthy of the stated price of the inspection, and I stated I wouild like a copy of the report and would like to compensate him for the price of an apprentice rather than full price. Over the last couple of days we agreed to a $400 price to be paid once the full report was delivered. Today Joe stated he will not be delivering the inspection report, this is the email he sent to my realtor: Terrence I won't be finishing the report. I thought I was prepared to do a report of that size, I'm not. If you have any questions I might be able to answer feel free to ask Best regards Joe So with this email Joe has forfeited his payment and we consider this matter closed. We thought Angie's List would like to know.
