They arrived approx as scheduled: were unable to repair the dripping faucet(suggested I replace it); determined that the replacement garbage disposal I had purchased was too large for the space and should be replaced with the same model as the old one and that there was already a water line for a refrigerator. I went out and bought the specified garbage disposal and they returned later in the day to replace it. They told me what water line to buy for the refrigerator but did not hook it up.

I was not impressed because what they did was that they sent somebody who was not a licenced plumber but was a handyman, and I guess that was because they got overwhelmed with people taking the big deal. He was a perfectly nice guy, but I felt like I was paying for a plumber and got a handy man instead. The guy was nice but I didn't get what I expected.

First off the angies list coupone I used was expired but they still honored it, for that I'm grateful. However, over a month's time I had four different appointments that they fell through on. Only two of them did they even bother to call and tell me they weren't able to come. Do you know how much time I wasted waiting for a plumber that never showed up 4 times! one of the times they were very apologetic and sounded like they had some sort of emergency which I understand, I'm not completely unreasonable, but 4 times! The phone number listed also seemed to have their voice mail box constantly full so I couldn't leave messages and it seemed like the other times I was always talking to someone different, are there different sub companies and all star is the parent company? it left me very confused. In the phone call I said it was my solar water heater on my roof which was leaking yet he didn't bring a ladder to the job? He borrowed my ladder and went up on to the roof (have to give him credit there, it is a scary roof) and fixed the job for about  250 more dollars. He did give me a 10% discount when I mentioned all of the inconveniences. Still 25$ to compensate for four jobs not shown up to? I work night shift too so every one of those jobs was the equivalent of you waking up at 2 in the morning to wait for someone that never shows up.

All I wanted to do was have the flapper in my old toilet replaced. They sent a man over who worked 4 hours on the flapper, but it kept leaking. He said I needed a completely new toilet. I told him I didn't know anything about buying a toilet & told him I didn't want to do that yet.
However, when he put the flapper on, he couldn't stop the toilet from leaking from the reservoir to the floor attachment. He went over to Home Depot & bought a toilet for about $100 or so for me. It turned out it was way too tall! He was here for about 7 hours installing everything. I paid at least a couple hundred dollars extra plus the Big Deal.

A few days later, I called the owner & told him the toilet was unacceptable because of the height. He sent over his head plumber about a week later who brought a toilet that was more suitable. He installed it for me. It's a little too tall, but acceptable. I still have it; it works fine. But he didn't caulk the bottom of the toilet. A week later he came back & caulked it but did a poor job of it - He missed the back of it that you can't see. I had another plumber take care of it on another Big Deal. The owner gave me back $100 because the first plumber apparently over-charged me. He said he fired that original guy. It all started by just trying to replace a flapper & I ended up with two toilets...one that didn't work & one that wasn't caulked properly. It was quite an ordeal.

I arrived home late on a Saturday afternoon to our water softener leaking water all over the garage.  I called several plumber on Angie's List none will to come out today and then I found All Star plumbing through another search engine.  Ryan came out and did a fantastic job.  The water softener (in place when I bought my home) was 11 years old and the part for it would need to be ordered.  Given the age of the system and the quality of it, the other option was to cut the pipes and rerun them and eliminate the system altogether.
Ryan did an excellent job.  He was knowledgeable, professional and I will definitely use his company in the future.

Additional comments.
When the owner called me to inquire about the install, I professionally advised him of the above. He offered to return $200.00 for my trouble, however, to date I have not received any refund. I have called numerous times to inquire why he would not stand behind his commitment, but have not had the courtesy of a return call.
I discovered after the fact that the BBB revoked their accreditation of this company.
I do not recommend you utilize a company that in my opinion is very unprofessional and unethical.

My husband removed an old bathroom faucet and began installing a new one when he ran into a snag.  We called All Star Plumbing and explained that we needed someone to come finish the job.  They were supposed to come between 3 and 4; then they called us about 3:30 to say they were running behind and had to come between 6 and 8 P.M.  Since this was way too late, we called them back and rescheduled for the next morning.  Although I wasn't there at the time, my husband told me that they came on time and finished the work in about an hour.  The plumber seemed to do a good job, and was knowledgable.  However, I thought that $220 for an hour of work seemed steep, especially since we'd done almost half of the work beforehand.  When I called and talked to the office manager, she was very unhelpful.  She told me there was nothing she could do about the "unfortunate circumstance" and wasn't willing to meet me even part way.  I told her I would have to give their company a less than stellar review on Angie's List, but she didn't seem concerned.  If she had been willing to compromise even a little on the price, I would have given them a higher grade.

The plumber was a very nice person and gave me a lot of interesting information on the water shutoff outside. However, my toilet is not fixed. I bought a parts kit for him to use, and he used the needed parts and took the unused parts with him. Although I will likely never need those parts, he could have asked before taking them. This is an unusual situation, and I don't know what is causing the problem with my toilet. Evidentally, the plumber didn't, either.  My toilet stopped running for about 3 days and then it started again. Shortly after they came to my home, I went out of town, so their 30-day guarantee expired before I was able to call them back. I have not asked them to return to fix my toilet.

We had a stoppage issue toliet clogged and main line concern: when I called I was told the service call was about $65.00, I also requested someone local (they said they would send someone from my area Lincoln, CA); the plumber called was running two hours behind, found out he had come from Sacramento (not locally). Well no big deal as he did call me. He walked in the bathroom flushed the toliet (which flushed) and told me with a low flow toilet sometimes you have to let it "set" before flushing to let the toliet paper dissolve. Well I explained that this was NOT a one time occurrance (someone used to much TP) and that we had had intermittent problems for two months also sinks not draining. He walked in to the next bathroom lifted the lid adjustied the water flow valve; and then told me it was a $100.00 charge (to flush the toilet and turn a screw on a valve) less than ten minutes. I was appalled. He never checked - finally after my verbal dispute he agreed on $75.00 charge. Two days later with no plug up the toilet would not flush again- needless to say another call to another plumber.

Our instant hotwater fixture was leaking.  I called All Star and they said they had a technician in the area. He arrived within 4 hours. The technician stated the filter was faulty as well as the parts within the filter cap.  He stated that he did not know where to get them and there was nothing else he could do. We were charged $95.  I thought that was high, and he said that if we called them back they would credit the $95 toward the work. That was their way of insuring they got the work.  I spent months tracking down the parts. I had no idea what I was doing, but was eventually able to find a person in Tennessee who helped me.  I called All Star and made an appt for a Friday late morning.  I changed my schedule for that appt. Technician called and said someone had called in sick and he didn't know if he could make it.  We rescheduled to Saturday morning.  No one called or showed up. I called them back on the following Tuesday and was told the tech called but we didn't answer the phone.  NOT TRUE, we were home all day. The receptionist then said they did have a tech working in our area so another appt was made for later that morning after 11:30.  I had something I needed to take care of and wouldn't be home till after 11:30, the receptionist told me to call her when I got home so they could come out.  I arrived home at 12 and the technicians were waiting.  I explained to them I wasn't aware they were going to arrive until after I called.  They said they weren't told that.  I gave them the parts, they installed them within 10 minutes handed me a bill for $150.  I asked if that included the credit of $95 they said yes.  I felt that was pretty pricey for a 10 minute job. After they left I did not use the sink or faucet all day, I replaced all my under the sink items.  Within 6 hours the entire underneath of my sink was flooded.  Called All Star again, they arrived in the morning 30 minutes late, making my husband late for work.  I had a kidney transplant about a month ago and my husband wanted to make sure things were done correctly since I wasn't feeling well so he waited until they arrived.  Tech said now the problem was the faucet unit and became very defensive and loud saying he hadn't touched it and it wasn't his fault.  I felt like I was watching a 5 yr old throw a fit.  He was clearly agitated.  We never thought it was something he did...just wanted it fixed.  My husband at this time realized this wasn't the person he felt could adequately complete the project, nor did he want to leave this man in the house with me alone since he had to go to work.  He told him to leave. He did, but he was angry. Shortly thereafter I received a call from Ryan the owner, who was also very irrate. He was yelling at me, called my husband a snob and referred to me as "Honey".  He said that we never gave them a chance to fix it and that I didn't know what I was talking about.  I agreed only to the part that I knew nothing about plumbing, but we had given them several chances to fix it.  Ryan and I went back and forth and accomplished nothing because all he wanted to do was yell at me. I tried several times to hang up on Ryan but each time I picked the phone back up, he would still be on it wanting to argue more.  If this technician had approached this job like a professional and said "Look this seems to also be part of the problem we obviously missed it the first and second time" things might have gone another way.Or if the OWNER of the company had called to resolve the problem like a professional things also may have ended differently...but he was worse then the Tech!  My husband's instincts were clearly spot on and he made the right decision in asking the tech to leave.

It  began wi th a plugged drain.  Original cleaning did not solve the problem.  All Star immediately sent out a second crew with longer snakes and a remote viewing system .  They invited us to watch the video probe with them to see the problem for ourselves.  The magnitude of t he problem became evident when the probe came to a complete halt due to broken pipes, roots and s ludge. PIIPES,  Since we were about to leave for an extended vacation , we scheduled an appt. for two days after our r turn.  The office called the day before to make sure everything was f ine, the crew arrived the next morning and began work on what we thought was the final plan and dthe original bid.  Of course  older  houses are often full of surprises.   Not only did the pipe make an  unexpected curve below the bl ockage, it also involved tunneling beneath the porch and driveway.  I thought, "Oh my God, this is going to  cost an arm and a leg."  To my surprise the estimate of the added work was very reasonable and the work professionally done and completed within the original time  frame.

I thought the technician was fine although I was not prepared to spend that kind of money but I realize the job had to be done so I had to shell out the money. He spent quite a bit of time with it and seemed to know what he was doing. I will use him again in the future.

The estimate of $375.00 to fix a leaking pipe under the house did not seem unreasonable to me. The final price included a 15% discount with an Angie's List coupon, and the cost of materials.
My wife, who was not home when the service was completed, felt that a charge of $375.00 for less than an hour of work was somewhat exorbitant. I pointed out that the bill said this was the standard price, but I called  the company to verify this. I told the receptionist that I wanted to know what the standard price was for repairing a leaking pipe under a house, and she transferred me to the owner. After I explained the reason for my call, the owner said he would contact the plumber who did the work and get back to me. He did not.
I therefore called again, several days ago and explained to the receprionist that I had not heard back from the owner. She said she would contact him and he would return my call that day. Once again, he did not.
While the price might have been reasonable, I am rating it as a D since I do not know whether it was. I had noticed an earlier reviewer had mentioned that All Star was on the expensive side.
I am not sure why the plumber showed up in his own car without the necessary equipment, but I downgraded punctuality because of the time it took him to get what he needed. I understand that he might have come simply to provide an estimate and not do repairs, but because of the lack of communication I do not know if this was the case. After he identified the poroblem I asked whether it needed to be repaired immediately, and when he said, "Yes," i asked if he could do it.
The F in professionalism is because I never reeceived a call back from the company, or the answer to what I thought was a simple question - the standard price for finding and repairing a leaking pipe under my home.

Were late for a variety of reasons, including tire problem they had.  Wished they would have called and advised would be late.  I called them finally appx. 45 minutes  after failure to show.  They called back to advise they were coming right over then, some misconception had happened. They did arrive about 1 1/2 hours late.  The problem would have been if we had scheduled to be gone after the two hours were up, and had to return to work.
Advised that the The Big Deal on Angie's List was up to $200 labor, not 2 hours as I had seen earlier on Angie's List.  Apparently some mix-up that has since been fixed with Angie's List.  I did feel I got my money's worth, when they were finished.
I've had a problem replacing a cartridge in my bath sink. (Don't ever buy Moen hardware for your sinks.  Moen has sent me numerous cartridges over time, so they are aware of this problem, which causes water leaks after cartridge ages.)  I have replaced them numerous times myself, but unable to do it this time.

We consulted about the cartridge problems and eventually they were able to repair them correctly, much to my great joy.  They threw in two extras in the kitchen which were small jobs, but had bothered me for a long time.

In the end, I was extremely glad to have these repairs done, and pleased with the service.

I called All Star Plumbing when my water heater failed to work. They promptly sent out a technician who looked at the unit and said " wow I haven't seen one like this before!". After taking cell phone photos and contacting his office he was directed to leave and another "qualified" technician was sent to our home. He determined that the unit had several faulty parts and that they would need to be ordered, and that he would return in several days.

Three days later (weekend with no hot water) the technician returned and installed the new parts. The heater still did not work and a fourth technician was dispatched to check the work of the previous technician. The fourth technician looked over the water heater and informed me that we needed to replace it with a new one, and he could arrange for the exchange immediately.

At that point I became suspicious and said I would need to think it over before ordering a new heater. I then contacted the manufacturer and was referred to a qualified technician located in Rocklin. He arrived shortly after I called him, and after examining the water heater found a bird nest lodged in the air intake tube. He removed the nest and attempted to start the water heater. It still did not work. He then inspected the new parts installed by All Star Plumbing he found two ground wires were left disconnected. The old parts were then properly reinstalled and the unit fired up immediately and has worked without a problem since.
I contacted the owner of All Star and informed him what had occurred and he laughed and said "I'll need to talk to those guys, this is too much!" He also asked if I would return the new parts to him so he could get a credit from the manufacturer. I said I would keep them as a back up once I confirmed they were the correct parts for my unit. In the meantime All Star billed me $400 for labor and $218 for parts. None of which I authorized!!

Moral of this story.... DON'T USE ALL STAR PLUMBING...FIND A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN AND KEEP AND EYE OUT FOR BIRD NESTS

I had to call him back and he came back the same day right away and he fixed the toilet even better than he fixed it before.  He should have fixed all of it the first time, but it was the same day at no extra charge and he was there in just a few minutes.  The price I paid was for 2 hours of service.  He was only here 15 or 20 minutes the first time.  He was already at home and we had to call him and ask him to come back.  His wife and he came out from Citrus Heights and I am in South Sacramento.  He was personable and nice.  He wasn't pushy.  He did explain about the halcyon buildup where the water runs out of the toilet tank around the toilet area.  He told me I could try some Seal-R on that.  He was just nice.  He wasn't trying to hard sell or soft sell.  He had dignity and he was clean.  He just didn't think of looking at the inside of the toilet when he was here.  I think his price for 2 hours of service was great, but I didn't really need 2 hours of service.  I don't know how a normal company would charge.  Maybe they would charge $120.00 just to come out, so I felt fine about All Star's price.

My 3 year old water heater broke on a Friday night. The next morning, Saturday, I checked Angie's List to find someone who would come on the weekend. I called Allstar Plumbing. The gentleman who answered the phone was very nice and said he could send someone to my house. Ed came out and looked at my water heater. He was very nice. He explained what was wrong with it and what my options were. I chose to get a new one installed. He drove to several places in town to find the right model and size. While I was waiting, the nice woman from the office kept me informed of their progress over the phone. At no time was I wondering where anybody was or what was going on. I really appreciate that. Ed came back and installed the new water heater. It's a beauty compared to my other one. He added some extras that he didn't have to and took the old one away at no charge. The cost was within the estimate. No surprises. The new water heater works perfectly and I am very happy with the experience. I will call Allstar Plumbing again if I ever need any plumbing done. I recommend them highly!

Overall, it went well. He was supposed to be here at 2pm but called and said he would be later - about 3:30 pm I wasn't expecting it to be so expensive for 20 minutes of work. This was a very simple fix. Also, the plumber had on dirty boots and didn't use boot covers. He was friendly and courteous.
