US DOT: 3795591 MC: 01364153 I have to assume all of these 5 star reviews are fake as they are all within about 4 months even though the company claims to have been in business for 20 years. They read like employees who know just what people want to hear when choosing a moving company. We hired ABSOLUTE RELOCATION SERVICE to move us from Long Beach, CA to Gold Canyon AZ. We were moving a 3 bedroom house and they quoted us an estimate for 432 cu ft. YOU CAN NOT FIT A 3 BEDROOM HOUSE in 432 cu ft, and they know that. That is enough room for a 1 bedroom apartment. The original estimate was about $4000. To be fair, every company I called for an estimate quoted based on the same 432 cu ft of space-$5.66/cu ft. You try to book your movers in advance, and then give an estimated inventory and they give you a price based on that. You have not packed yet, and so you do not really know what your inventory is. They know you do not have a concept of how much space that takes up. So, the initial quote is a lowball estimate to trick you into putting down a deposit of 40%...which becomes non-refundable after a week. By the time you have everything packed and give your updated inventory, it has grown-our cost DOUBLED to $7900. Plan of a 3 bedroom house taking up AT LEAST 1100 cu ft. We did not even move a sofa, a coffee table, or bookshelves, and we only had 1 bed. We moved 3 carloads of stuff ourselves, and it was STILL 1100 cu ft after everything was loaded on the truck. They upcharge for bulky items (their discretion), they upcharge for every stair after 7 upon delivery, upcharge for every foot after 50 from the truck to the door, charge you a $1/cu ft for shuttling if they decide they can not get the delivery truck to your house....basically for every possible thing. This company said they have their own trucks, but the truck that showed up was an Enterprise Rental, and the movers were subcontractors. The movers themselves were fine, I guess. They put stickers on your stuff to keep in organized, but the inventory list was illegible, and they did not put stickers on everything. They DID NOT tell us that our stuff would be loaded, and then unloaded and stored and then loaded on a different truck. When they were done loading, the cost went up another $1300 for a total of $9100. When our things were delivered, it was apparent that our stuff was just thrown into the truck without care, things were destroyed, a vintage bike was bent, boxes crushed and numerous dishes were broken. They also managed to leave my 70 year old dining table, office chair and half of our bed frame in the warehouse. I am actually SHOCKED that we got our stuff at all. Our things were delivered on 6/10. We did get our table and chair a week later, but they have stopped responding to our requests for our bed frame and we can not even file a claim-oh yeah, the movers who loaded our stuff gave us a paper with info to file a claim, but that claim company DOES NOT WORK with Absolute. They do not respond to our emails or phone calls. I think they got tired of lying. Once they have your money, they are done with you and couldn't care less about you and your things. If you must hire movers, plan on the cost being at least double the estimate and hire a name brand you have heard of. OR, rent your own trucks, and hire your own contractors. I tend to think most moving companies operate like this. They take advantage of people who are going through the stress of moving and do not understand what cubic feet look like. That type of space fills up a lot faster than you think it will, and I promise you have more stuff than you think you do.
