It was a big job removing and replacing duct work under the house, in addition to replacing the furance and A/C units. We were very satisfied with the finished job.

This is the third time I've called A Cool Air.
The first time was for some serious repair work on the air condition/heater and duct system.  It was quite involved as they had to crawl around in a rather tight attic.
The second time was a checkup to make sure my system was running okay.
This time it was because my heater had stopped working.  Peter checked the heater in the attic and then the fuse box, and then checked the connections in the attic to be doubly sure.  It turned out that I had problems with the home electrical system, not the heater.  Peter showed up on time, is quite professional and knowledgeable, and explains things very well.
A Cool Air does outstanding work at a reasonable price.
Will definitely be hiring A Cool Air again.

It was overall a great experience. We got home on July 4th to discover the house was 85 degrees and getting hotter. The A/C was out. I waited till the next day to call around. The first highly rated company I called had a recording from Saturday that due to the heat wave, they were booked through Wed, but if we were still interested, we could leave a message. I then emailed A-Cool Air and was surprised to get a response within an hour. I was even more shocked that he said he could come out that same night.

The bad thing was that they didn't make it out that night and they didn't call to say they couldn't either, which was frustrating. The good thing was that when I emailed that night to find out what had happened and to determine when they could realistically make it out, I got an email back around midnight saying that they'd been very busy and that they could make it out before noon the next day, which they did.

I told much of the story above about when the tech was there, but I want to add that he was very nice and willing to explain to me as I watched. I felt very comfortable with him. The bill was a standard print-out that showed their standard prices for most things. The strange thing was that he charged me $20 less than was on the bill. Maybe due to flaking the night before? Not sure, but I didn't complain!

I was very satisfied with the experience. The tech told me that our system was fairly new, but advised us on how to avoid future problems.

Our Heating / AC unit went out in October. We paid another company $55 for an estimate of repairs. They said the unit is old and almost everything on it needed to be replaced. Parts alone were $1705, less $55 estimate fee already paid, leaves $1650 due. I didn't have that kind of money so I declined the free estimate to replace the unit. We made it through the winter with space heaters but with the hot weather we really needed to get the air conditioner working because my mother is bed bound and the heat was affecting her health so much it was becoming a life and death. situation. I finally got enough money for repairs and found from research that the previous company we had used (Big Mountain Heating and Air) had a reputation for excessive mark ups, so a contractor friend recommended A Cool Air, inc. He said he not only used them as a subcontractor but also used them for his own home because they were so good. I called the number and Peter, the owner, answered. It is his cell phone. Apparently he was on another job but said he could come right out as soon as he was done. He said he does not charge for estimates and that he would call me 20 minutes before arriving, which he did. Meanwhile I looked over their website and I like that he said he considers his work "a technical art". Usually when someone loves what they are doing, they are very good at it. He also said his prices are often half of larger contractors (just what I was looking for). And if all else fails he gives no credit check 0% financing. When he arrived I showed him the written estimate from the previous company. He looked over their prices and said one $400 item was not even necessary and another item for $553 was something that only cost $40. Then he went up on the roof to check out everything himself. When he came down he told me that all we needed was freon ($60) and to replace a fuse ($50). I was so shocked! He said the unit is old but as long as it works there is no reason to replace it because its ugly. If it works, it works. The total cost to me, including labor was $160. He even told me that in the future if we blow a fuse we can just go to Home Depot to buy another. I was so impressed with his honesty. And finally he gave me an invoice that he went over with me. It has a checklist on it that tells you what he inspected and he filled it out as we talked so he could explain everything he did. It has set prices for any parts that need replacing. No surprises. I really feel like I hit the jackpot in finding this contractor. Have you ever had such a good experience with a service contractor that you have the urge to quit your job and spend all your time telling people about him? Well, that's how I feel about A Cool Air, Inc. He was quick, honest, knowledgeable and professional. I really can't recommend him highly enough.
