"There is definitely a break down in our communications so we apologize for that. The recommendations made regarding both of your HVAC systems (2 systems) duct work replacement, as well as the HRV are in no ways something that has to be done right away, or going to cause damage to your existing HVAC systems. The options were simply made as a recommendation based on the age and condition of the current duct systems and the overall cleanliness of the HRV. The benefits to enhancing these components are pretty straight forward: -Achieve a higher level of indoor air quality for you and your family. The HRV has been operating without pre-filters and the internals as well as the connected duct work is very dirty. Almost all of the ductwork is also very old (except for a couple of runs that were replaced in recent years). Although duct work will out live an HVAC system, they are not designed or engineered to last forever. -By upgrading to an R8 duct system the operational efficiency of your existing systems will increase, along with air flow distribution and of course indoor air quality will also be enhanced (new versus old). None of this is "required" for day to day operation (to your point the other company said everything is working fine, it is), they are just options for you to explore and prepare for. Our goal is to simply educate all of our clients on their options that will provide them tangible value and deliver increased performance in the areas of efficiency, comfort, indoor air quality and safety. The over all investment for everything was $12,764 and this was for both duct systems as well as the HRV. As explained this could be broken up into "phases" and does not have to be done all at the same time. I have spoken with everyone on our team and can only say that we are truly sorry that you feel the way you feel, as this was never our intention. No high pressure tactics or scare tactics were ever used, just as they were not for the past 5 years of service."
