I really tried to give them a chance. When I first read their reviews there were a plethora of "didn't show," "never called back," etc. Not sure why, but I decided to schedule an estimate. I spoke with the owner and scheduled a time to come out the evening of Nov 3. They gave me a 30 minute window (5-5:30 PM) and said they would be there sometime between then. I shuffled my schedule around to make sure I was home in time. Well, long story short, they never showed and they never called. Frustrated? Yes! Ready to give them a negative review? No! The nice guy (possibly foolish guy) inside of me decided to give them another chance. I reached back out to them through Angie's list informing them of the situation and how I would still like them to come out. It's been days since I sent the message and have yet to receive a response. Needless to say, I cannot recommend this company.

Made a Saturday appointment for an estimate, but nobody ever showed. Called the following week to reschedule... answering service took a message, but no callback. Left another message several days later... again, no response. Hard to square this with the other ratings, so maybe the folks involved had some sort of crisis situation that kept them from responding. Regrettable, but I'll be looking elsewhere for our new gutters.

They never returned our calls
Response from California Gutterworks Inc

"We apologize if we were not able to respond to you in a timely manner. Our goal is to offer great service to our customers. Our company has been overloaded with leads and work. This season has been the busiest it has been since 2007. The mention of having a El Nino winter has caused a huge surge of calls to our business."

We called and left a message at the office number. We received a voice messge with a cell number to call as they were out of the office. After a few back and forths, we were given an appointment. My husband spent an hour at the property waiting. No one showed up so he returned home. Later, we received a call from the vendor saying he was at the property and looking for us. My husband told him he was unable to return at that time, so the vendor said he would take a look around and send us an estimate. Even after our leaving some messages asking for the estimate, we have received neither a call back or the estimate. We have contacted another vendor.

The provider removed existing partial gutter and installed new gutter around the entire perimeter of our home.  It has not only added to the protection of our home from water, but it has added to the beauty and curb appeal as well.
One of the challenges for the provider was our patio that had a 2/12 pitch rather than the normal 6/12 pitch of our home.  They went out of their way to make sure the gutter on the 2/12 pitch was correctly installed with no extra charge even though I thought they should have been payed for their extra efforts to make it right.
Thanx
Dr. Michael Rasler

Dan and his crew did a great job!  My house has never looked better.
Dan is professional, punctual, respectful and very knowledgeable about his profession.
Dan and his crew arrived as scheduled, immediately got to work with removal, repairs and installation of new fascia board where needed and new gutters and downspouts.
They also cleaned up after themselves as they worked.
Leesa in his office was also very helpful with scheduling and any questions I had before and after.
I highly recommend California GutterWorks, Inc.

The crew removed the old leaky gutters and installed new white gutters with down spouts . They cleaned up any mess on patio area and hauled away old materials. I thought they did a great job and only took 3 hours to complete. I am sure I will enjoy my patio much better this winter with no leaks. I would recommend this company again to anybody

t iI think the job was a victim of other jobs in progress.  The job was delayed from the original start date and then work was
performed in irregular hours over a period of several days.  Eventually this job somewhat interfered with the timing of the exterior
house painting which the contractor knew about prior to starting this job. Generally this was a low priority job for the contractor but not for the homeowner paying the bill.

Lisa, the scheduler for California Gutterworks, scheduled an appointment with me for an estimate over the Memorial Day weekend. While I'd rather not spend a chunk of my Memorial Day weekend getting an estimate for gutters, the house painters were coming the following week and I needed to get the gutter job done. So I accepted the appointment and cut my Tahoe plans short.  I told Lisa I would be making my way back from the Tahoe area, and if I got stuck in holiday traffic, I'd call and let them know. She gave me a mobile number I could call if I was going to be late for our 11:30 appointment.  I managed to get home in plenty of time for the appointment, and then proceeded to wait for the estimator to show up during my 11:30 to 12:00 window.  At 12:30, I picked up the phone and called the mobile number Lisa had given me, but only got to leave a message. Then I sat around and waited, and waited, and waited. They never showed up.
Lisa called several hours later saying she'd gotten my message, and whoops, she had forgotten to put me on the estimator's schedule.  Niiiiice.  She also said she could reschedule me for later that evening. Fuhgetabowtit. Reading the Angie's List reviews, apparently I'm one of several people this has happened to.
I consider the estimate process as a contractor's audition. If they can't be professional and show up on time for the estimate, there's no way they're going to suddenly start being timely and professional when it comes time to do your job. End of story.
Look, gutters are no fun. They're like tires -- something ya gotta blow some dough on that you'd really rather not spend. Save yourself some grief, skip the bozos and just hire a pro. I highly recommend The Tinman Raingutters. Call him up, get the job done quickly and professionally and be done with it.

Contacted 4 gutter install and repair companies for estimates of above work.
No one wanted the work because of the multi levels and slope (pitch) involved.

CALIFORNIA GUTTERWORKS INC never even mentioned the difficultly.

They offered us a estimate, repaired everything they found, making extra repairs,
completed in one day, the workers were good people,  just like the company they work for.

I highly recommend CALIFORNIA GUTTERWORKS INC.

Overall, I want to give compliments to Dan Dion and his crew. Dan took time to discuss our situation when he came for the estimate. He thoroughly went over the pros and cons of the different gutter guards on the market and helped us choose the one that was right for us. Another contractor tried to sell us a heavy-duty guard that was designed for areas with heavy snowloads.  Still another contractor overestimated the length of gutter needed by 30 feet.
I have only good things to say about the actual work that was done. Nature was kind enough to rain shortly after the installation, and we are very happy with the performance of our new gutters and downspouts. Also, they look really good, and I think the Gutter Glove is going to be great with the heavy autumn leaf drop of mulberries, liquidambers and maples.
Unfortunately, this company is/was shorthanded, or there is a problem with appropriate scheduling, which resulted in multiple reschedulings over a couple of weeks. I was more or less OK with that - things happen and we adapt accordingly. The one thing I found really irritating was that two of the old downspouts were left behind after the crew removed the old gutters and downspouts (on or about Oct. 18, 2013). I didn't say anything at the time, assuming the crew would take them along when they returned to install the new gutters. Long story short: After numerous phone calls and e-mails, and assurances that the downspouts would be picked up by a crew in the area before our annual holiday dinner party on Dec. 14, Leesa (Dan's wife and office manager) made a personal trip from Roseville to my house to pick up the offending gutters - almost a week later.
I feel bad having to write a review that is less than glowing, because these are good people who do good work. But it's details like this that can sink a small company. I hope they get a handle on this scheduling thing.

I first used this company when it was called Armour Roofing Company, Inc in 2003 and had gutter installed on my home - with the owners Dan and David Dion.  In 2008 I called the company - the name changed to California Gutterworks, Inc. - and had gutters put up on my newly installed 3 car garage.  I was very happy with the job completed.  In 2012, however, my gutter on the back side of the house started coming down.  I called California Gutterworks to discuss the issue and indicated in my message that I felt it needed another downspout at that end of the house.  I spoke with Leesa one time, and she indicated she would have her husband come out and take a look at it.  It took a few weeks, and after several more calls and messages along with much rain, Dave finally showed up.  I shared with him that the end of the gutter that was coming down appears that we should have had a downspount installed on that end of the house.  He agreed and said he did not have the downspout at the time.  I told him to order one and I would pay him for the downspout and his coming out that day.  On August 20, 2013, several months later, I again called and left a message, however, to date I have not seen him to complete a downspout or received a phone call as to why he does not wish to do so.  As a prior satisfied customer I would have thought, he could have at least given me a call back, or a reason why he would not assist me further.
