After about a month I kept checking the water and it was still losing water so had them come back for a retest. This time they came and said the skimmers were leaking but their initial report said no leaks. They fixed the skimmer. The rain season came and I was unable to see if things had fixed. I kept in contact to let them know it did not get fixed. Flash forward to spring of 2017 and I had another pool guy come out and informed me that my pool still leaks. Called the management company and they said they only guarantee work for 30 days, which is absurd given the rain circumstances. This company hires unskilled leak detectors who will not write a detailed report. I watched the guy work and I don't recall him having a wetsuit to dive in the pool.
Response from American Leak Detection - Sacramento

"[Member Name Removed] I'm sorry to hear that your experience with American Leak Detection left you unsatisfied. Customer service is important to us and I'm sorry to hear that you didn't feel well taken care of. As you know, pool systems can be complicated and frequently compromised systems have more than one problem. Though our trained technicians are very skilled at finding and addressing leaks, some develop several weeks or months after we've found a leak and repaired it. We always welcome the opportunity to come back and work with customers again to address any additional challenges. I want to assure you that our technicians have more than 50 years of combined leak detection experience and they are all experts in their field. If you would like to discuss your situation further, please call our office at 916-331-6443. As a note to you and other customers, we do not repair the kind of waterfall you describe. Nor do we do any work without providing a receipt or report when the work is completed, especially if cash is used for payment. If someone else performed the repairs on your waterfalls we suggest contacting them to get a receipt. Our records indicate that you paid for your original test via check. Our technician had corresponded via text to help with measuring the water level using the bucket test. At the end of May we responded to your request to come back to re-test your pool at no additional cost, offered a date and time via email and did not hear back from you. We again contacted you by phone on 6-28-17 leaving voice mails and by email offering to send a different technician out the same day at no additional cost. You would not respond to accept our offer to resolve the situation with your pool. We value our reputation that we have established over 34 years and strive to provide excellent customer service. We belong to multiple swimming pool associations and have an excellent reputation in the industry. We are in good standing with Angie List members and have always been able to work through situations to the satisfaction of Angie List members. We are still offering to help resolve the pool leak problem, with no additional charges for testing, at your convenience. Please call our office at 916-331-6443 to schedule a time that works for you. Thank you, American Leak Detection Sacramento"

I hired American Leak Detection. Their employee arrived on time, was very pleasant and professional and tested the door with spray. I had done a lot of caulking and the slider didn't leak in the test. He found areas where he suggested it had probably leaked through the slider. He also located a small area within the wall/baseboard that was still damp. He also checked for water leaks in the plumbing by checking the water meter. I was sent a written report of what he found. My only real concern was that the cost was $325 for about an hour's work which I thought was high but I knew this before he came.

After another leak detection company failed after 3 trips to my home, Eric at American Leak Detection found my leak. Swimming pool leaks are very stressful so go with this company. Erik arrived 30 minutes early but after calling first to see if it was okay. He came prepared with all the tools necessary to test every part of my swimming pool. He was organized, explained the process and what he was doing the entire time. The cost remained as they stated when I made the appointment and did not change.  I am now going to schedule the company to perform the repairs and save water and my water bill!

It went very well. I thought the price was fair, and they provided all of the materials themselves. They were professional, and the leaks still haven't reappeared to this date. I would definitely use them again.

Not an easy process for any leak detector company. They did have to drill a second area in the cool deck because the first was off the mark but it got done. Left a muddy residue in the pool, which was a bit challenging for us to clean up, but found a good pool pump rental and got it cleaned after a bit of trial and error. They did what we couldn't, that is find the leak and fix it, and without having to do a huge tear out! Would definitely use them again.

We suspected hotwater line leak under washer/dryer room floor because of heat eminating from floor. We called USAA for directions to solve problem. USAA recommended American Leak Detection who came out next day, ID'd source of leak; provided alternative choices to solve the problem; provided prices and came out next day and repaired the leak. Superior plan, work, estimate, absolute minimal interference and quality work. USAA paid for repairs minus homeowners deductible! --USAA and American Leak Detection are to be commended for absolutely terrifc professional work.

not always easy to get a hold of but otherwise they did a first rate job with a difficult problem; finding the leak was very difficult but they stuck with it over a two day period until they found the general location, then over another two period jackhammered thru the concrete to expose and fix the pipe. there aren't many people with the expertise to do this sort of thing and i certainly appreciate monte's perseverance, i feel that the price is reasonable considering the experience and level of expertise necessary, and monte all but guaranteed me he would find the leak, and he persisted until he did find it. hope i never see such a problem again but i would call him again with full confidence

We had a large swimming pool leak.
We called the company and they did respond within a few days, however, we had to wait about a week
until we could coordinate availability.
The company came out to diagnose the problem. ($350)
They located the leak which was near the pool pump, as we expected, because of a problem several
years earlier due to tree roots in the area.
We were told ahead of time about the costs.
They came back to to dig down very deeply into rooted soil to repair the pipe.
It cost another $950 for the actual work which took probably a full day's work.
They cleaned up well after. We were very satisfied with the work.

They arrived at the time agreed to. They proceeded to use their equipment to determine the cause of the leak (which we had been trying to find for several years) and were finished within 30 minutes. It was an expensive but very worthwhile service call. We were then able to have the waterfall repaired and the leak was finally stopped.

Our pool maintenance service told us we appeared to have some leaks and they recommended American Leak Detection. We called them and they promptly scheduled an estimate. They came out and located the leaks. Cut a couple of holes in the concrete pool deck, repaired the leaks, reset the cement, and left for a few days to allow the cement to dry. Then they returned and replaced/repaired the non-slip surface in the areas they had cut into. The resurfaced area was a little lighter in color for a few weeks, but now is invisible.
They were very thorough with their explanations regarding the work and the steps they would follow. They also told us that the deck surface would be a different shade for awhile so we did not get concerned when we saw the difference in color. We were have to refill our pool two or three times per week. Now twice a month seems frequent. Our water bill decreased appreciably.
The entire process took five days so we weren't left hanging as so many contractors do.

Response from American Leak Detection - Sacramento

"American Leak Detection Sacramento prides itself on the quality of its work as well as its excellent customer service, so when we hear of a complaint, we take it very seriously. American Leak Detection Sacramento has been the premier leak detection business in Sacramento for nearly 30 years and that doesn’t happen by providing the kind of service described by this member. We let all of our customers know that our pool leak detections are valid for 30 days and that any repairs we do are guaranteed for one year; this member was no exception. After performing a leak detection and repairing a pool leak six months prior, we heard from this member and, as quickly as our busy summer schedule would allow, we returned to inspect our repair and conduct additional leak detections at no charge to the member. Having identified a leak (again, this is six months after our initial detection and repair) and performing additional repairs – all at no additional charge – we had not heard this member was unhappy with our service until we saw this posting on Angie’s List. Though we are confident that our leak detections were accurate and our repairs were done correctly, we contacted the member to see if this complaint could be resolved, or his claims of water loss at the pool could be verified. But, because the member sold the property where the pool was located, he was not interested in having us return to either verify his claims or conduct further tests on the pool. American Leak Detection Sacramento stands behind the quality of its service and the accuracy of its detections and we remain committed to working with our clients to reach the best possible outcomes."

Had a significant leak from my pool, that losing 3-5 inches of water, daily. The leak was creating several standing water spots, which became a mosquito hazard. Although the pricing was $300 for 2 hours, the non-invasive leak detection service was invaluable. He was able to find, small, hidden hole in the liner, which was easily repaired with a patch kit. This service saved me the cost of digging up my yard to find the leak.

They were very punctual, quick and responsive. They gave me time to arrange for finance and they came when I was ready to get the work done. They did a very good job and I was very happy with their quality of service. The price was also very reasonable.
