Work was fine. After care was far from impressive. We paid $2480 to have trees trimmed on a slope yesterday. In the process Travers accidentally broke off a sprinkler riser at its base, cracking the riser leaving a portion in the pipe such that it cannot be capped and leaving the system down until we can get a repair person. We bought the replacement parts today but I explained to Travers that my partner cannot climb the slope to repair it as he has MS. Curt E mail reply from Travers “We are not responsible...check page 3 of our terms and conditions”. Unimpressed to say the least.

They removed three pine trees that fell into our pool in just one day. They are excellent and are reasonably priced. We would not use anyone else but them. We would highly recommend them.

The price was very competitive and the work performed was well done. The only problem was scheduling. The estimate they sent said that after we agreed to their price and returned the signed agreement, the work would be scheduled within 15-25 working days. After about 2 weeks, we emailed them asking when we were scheduled and got no response. We then waited almost the whole 25 days and called them. We were not on their schedule. After a couple days they got back to us and said they didn't know why we were not on the schedule but they came out the next day and performed part 1 of the job.

I have my trees trimmed every two years. In the last five years, I have used Travers twice. When I contacted them this year, they promptly sent out a representative with whom I discussed what needed to be done. As is their procedure, I was to receive a written proposal to sign and send back to them before work would begin.
I did not receive the proposal, nor a call to explain the delay. I called their office and was told that someone was on vacation and they were backed up. I was assured that a proposal would be forthcoming. To this day, I have never heard from them. Is this any way to run a business? What happened to courtesy to your customer?Response from Travers Tree Service Inc

I received several bids to remove overgrowth and bushes on a small slope (9'x45') in the backyard and most importantly remove a carpet of English Ivy that was invading everything. The crew arrived as scheduled although only the forman spoke english. The forman was bouncing between several jobs and was often not at our job. The owner, Richard Travers, who provided the bid, was never seen again except to pick up the check. After two days the job was finished. I watched them roll the ivy like a rug, leaving the roots below the soil. I was unable to question the crew and when I talked to the forman he assured me the roots were gone. (They were not) Ivy grew back and I have been pulling roots ever since. No recourse with Travers except to comment on the web. Don't trust them, don't use them. They are terrible.

"This member has misstated the facts about his job. Ivy removal was quoted and completed. He was not happy that some of the Ivy started to re-grow. He was quoted a price for chemical application to the soil, to prevent Ivy re-growth, but he declined this service. He neglected to say in his report that Travers Tree Service filed a small claims court case to get paid for our original work that was completed. The judge listened to both sides of the case, saw pictures of before and after the job was completed. On October 1, 2008 the small claims court awarded Travers Tree Service $535.00 for the work completed. The Southwest District (19486) Redondo Beach Courthouse case number is SBA 08S01973. Anyone who wants to verify the FACTS of the case can contact the South Bay Municipal Court. He was attempting to force Travers to do more than what was quoted. The judge listened to all the facts and did not agree with his contentions."

They are professional and their work is excellent. They do not 'cut' trees, nor butcher them. They trim them and thin them so that they look really beautiful. If you give them specific directions, they follow them exactly. They show up on time, are courteous and they clean up completely.

We got a proposal on January 27, 2011, but didn't hire them until August. They are reasonably priced, a little high. But, do quality work and are professional. They told me they also do work for the city of PVE.

- Quite well - they came for the estimate, we added on a couple of items, and they got it.
- Before sending their estimator to the house, I took photos and sent it to their Contact link, they said this helped alot.
- They came on time for the estimate, and did the work on time and right on the budget, even though they were quite overloaded with work from recent windstorms in the area.
- During the cleanup it was very very noisy, so it's good that they did this during a weekday morning.
- Communication was OK. Many workers spoke no English, however the supervisor had no trouble communicating with thtem and with us, so all of our requests were communicated to them, and their comments/concerns/feedback were communicated to us.
- Note that my parents have been using Travers since the 1980s, and they've always been good, on-time, no problems.

I was satisfied. They were professional, prompt, and efficient. Their efficiency is reflected in their price. However, I was unable to use their services most recently because they could not perform an estimate at a time that was convenient for me.

It took a while from the initial call and estimate to the day the actual work was performed. However, once I was given a date they would be on site to do the work, they arrived exactly on time, and were very professional, courteous, and efficient. They guys knew what they were doing. I think the price was in line with the excellent work performed. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

They did a great job. Exactly what we wanted. The main area for improvement is for better communication during the scheduling of the job. They were not able to let me know when the job would be performed until two days prior and it took multiple follow up calls on my part to get the job on their schedule.

The work went fine. I am pleased with the final result. They were on time and did the work that they said they were going to do. They were also professional and reasonably priced. I got a few estimates, and they were in the right ballpark. They are knowledgeable about trees; they recommended an appropriate tree for the backyard. It worked out fine and was a good choice.

If you're in a big rush, this might not be the company for you, because they're extremely popular and it took me a couple of weeks to "get on the board." However, they arrived when they promised, did all the work (while I was at work) and cleaned every leaf off the lawn. It was like some very strong elves had appeared and then vanished. I have to admit I was a little shocked when I came home to find that the tree hadn't just been topped but thoroughly pruned;, this will result in a temporary loss of privacy between my back neighbors and myself until everything grows back. However, in retrospect, I realized that the tree is going to be much healthier now that it's been shaped instead of just topped off. These folks really know their trees, and that's why they're the tree service of choice around here.
