CUSTOM HARDWOOD

Matt was very flexible and worked with our kitchen contractor to perform the work when it needed to be completed. This all happened while we were on vacation, as we could not be in the house while the work was done. It was all handled very professionally and with great collaboration and flexibility.

Matt was prompt, professional and did quality work. I was unexpectedly called out of state after he provided his bid and I enlisted my mother to be my liason so the work could be completed while I was gone. She was very comfortable interacting with him and I was delighted with the results when I returned home and saw the finished floors.

Matt was the owner and sole proprieter. He was recommended by my general contractor, whose judgment I trusted. During our initial meeting he was prompt, communicated his pricing, policies, and my options clearly, gave me a good idea of possible issues that he couldn't predict that might generate extra cost (like the condition of the floor under some old carpet), and confirmed that he would take my priorities into account as he worked. He left me several dozen stain swatches to choose from. I pulled up the carpet, tack strips and staples before he started. I had removed a closet to enlarge a room, and he did a seamless job of repairing the areas exposed under the walls. In the living room, we found a large blotchy dark patch that he couldn't identify or fix, but he managed to camouflage it almost completely with the wood stain I chose ("Sedona Red"). He also did his best to hide another area where the subfloor had apparently created a shadowy line across the floor. I don't even notice any of those issues now. He could have repaired them if I had been willing to pay the extra cost, but I was on a severe budget and pressed for time. He completed the work in about five days. In retrospect, I wish I had picked a slightly darker stain, and I didn't realize that the floor wouldn't have a glossy shine like some of the photos I've seen. However, I've decided it looks great this way.
