My daughter recommended that company to me. He saved me money. The punctuality was fine. I had to wait a day.

The first time the repairman came out he was condescending and told me we were pulling the rack out on one side only and needed to pull it out from the middle. He fixed it so I thought I'd give his theory a try. Four months later I was calling them back to fix the same problem. Cost me another service call and the cost of the part which he should've changed in the first place because it was def Clive. The issue hasn't reoccurred since.

He fixed the leak, though now the refrigerator no longer makes ice (it was working just fine prior to their "repair"). I had them back out on March 28th and I was told I now needed a new fan which was going to cost and additional $168.00. I finally told him not to come back so he wouldn't keep "discovering" new items that needed replacing so he could keep charging me.

Technician came out to troubleshoot problem with my Refrigerator; he confirmed that I would need a new ckt board which was just replaced a year ago (which is no longer under warranty by the people that installed it).

I chatted with Tech to get feedback of Repairs on different model refrigerators - thanked him for his time and paid him for the Service call. Went out an bought a brand new refrigerator the following week.

Would definitely use them again - I found the Technician to be very honest.

When my c. 1995 Whirlpool clothes washer stopped spinning, I was unsure if I should have it serviced or just replace it. From describing it over the phone, my normal appliance service company said it sounded like a typical and easier fix for a machine that age at an approximately $120 charge (service call fee plus approx two 15 minute increment charges). However, they couldn't come out for two days. After I got on the books with them, I called around some others that are top-rated on Angie's List.
A-1 was able to come out in that morning's 4 hour window starting immediately and $40 service fee (less than my normal place), so I booked them. The repairperson called before he came to ensure I was home, asked a clarifying question about the noise it was making and if it was discharging the water without spinning (it was), and predicted that he'd have the part in his vehicle to fix it.
Upon inspection, it was as he'd anticipated and he made the repair after reviewing the flat fee estimate with me. It was about 25% higher than what my normal appliance repair company was going to potentially charge (quoted sight unseen over the phone), but A-1 could come out the same day so I figured I was paying for the convenience and speed. The repairperson stated he used to work for Sears so had experience with what they would charge and what a typical charge was for this type of repair.
I had to take a call but after checking back in, the repairperson had fixed the broken pieces (motor coupler) and taken pictures to show me what mine had looked like compared to the new one. He gave me insight into my older washer and advice about best ways to use it to avoid stressing it. Although not necessary for the proper functioning, he explained most odors came from accumulation of dusk and debris from areas under the outer housing, and he cleaned those areas since they aren't easily accessible by the typical user. I thought that was a very nice value added service.
Before he left, he tested the cycles to ensure it was working properly and cleaned up debris. Overall, a smooth, timely and thorough service call.

After two service appointments, problem remained unfixed. Was told we needed (first) a new compressor at $800 and (then) a new evaporator at $700. However, noise was clearly coming from a fan nowhere near either component service person said needed to be replaced. Called another repair service that quickly found and replaced a broken fan.

I tried to call them to let them know that I was unhappy. Basically the gentleman who answered told me that that's what a service call is. He didn't offer any solutions or a way of fixing the problem.

Water dispenser in refrigerator was not working. Did not call our our regular plumber since he does not work on appliances so found one on Angie's list. He arrived on time, analyzed the problem (water valve), and gave me an estimate of $260. I asked him to break it down and was told that the part was about $100, with a service call fee of $57, which, by my own calculations, would make labor about $100. Time of repair was told would be about 35-45 minutes. About 25 minutes later, 5 of which spent recalculating the bill, he was done. Inspecting the bill later I noticed that the valve only cost $68. Since $100 for parts was used in the estimate, I would think my bill should have come down in price by about $30. Instead, that $30 was added to the labor charge (was $100 for parts, $57 service call, $100 labor which now become $68 for parts, $57 service call, and $130 labor.) I would think this would be unethical. So I rationalized, $30, no big deal. But then I thought about it, $130 labor + $57 service call is $187 for a 25 minute repair. I reread Angie's List reviews on A1 and found someone who paid them only $70 labor to replace a timer module and ice maker when I paid $130 to replace a water valve. Seeking any sort of rationalization of this I called the company and, in a nice manner, asked the guy how their estimates were done, flat rate or by parts and labor since both the part and labor time were much less than in the estimate. I was told that I would have to speak to the tech. I repeated my simple question on the estimating process and he rudely and condescendingly interrupted me and said and quot; How would I know that? The tech will call you.and quot; Four days later and no one ever called back. Never would I have expected such rude treatment from a company that had just netted profit from me of about $200. Bottom line, it bothers me when companies act in a dishonest manner and, when questioned on it, are rude to boot. I completely trusted the good Overall Grade on Angie's List for this company rather than taking the time to find reports that are similar to my situation and then having that knowledge when the tech arrives. My mistake.

When my smooth-top range quit working over the holidays I called A-1 because when I had a problem with my refrigerator last summer they responded promptly and diagnosed the condition. Again, the repairman responded quickly. I demonstrated the (to me) baffling symptoms: some things worked fine on the stove, others didn't work at all. He manipulated the knobs a couple of times and then told me the problem was most likely with my control board. He gave me an estimate of $500 to replace the board. I was unwilling to spend $500 on a 9-year old appliance, so declined.
After researching the cost to replace the range and the cost of the board on line ($250), I elected to order the replacement board and install it myself. After I did so the problem persisted. I called A-1 back and the same service person responded. This time, he actually examined the stove, and upon pulling it out from the wall found that one of the 110 V supply wires had come loose and was arcing. He tightened the connection and the range has worked perfectly ever since. All together the repair ended up costing me $500 anyway.
So why not examine the appliance FIRST before quoting me $500 for an expensive unneeded fix? The only reason I'm not and quot;failingand quot; these guys is that I am embarrassed that I called them without examining the range thoroughly myself. On the other hand, as they say, I'm not making the big bucks for appliance repair.

I called another appliance repair service from Angie's list, but they were not available so I called A-1. Brian answered, took my information, asked what the issue was and indicated he could have Rick out to my house between 1-5 today. Brian indicated up front what the cost of the service call was going to be and explained if parts are required that the service call price didn't include parts.
I didn't have to wait long between the 4 hour window-Rick showed up just before 1 PM, came in, asked what was wrong, took a look, wrote down the model and serial number, turned on the oven to diagnose the problem, went out the truck to confim the part number, grabbed a new igniter, removed the old one, wired up the new one, turned the oven on and PRESTO! It worked. In and out in about 45 minutes.

I did as much troubleshooting as I could, taking apart some of the
dryer but got stuck. I found A1-appliance here, was impressed with the
reviews and scheduled an appointment over their website. There was no
email confirmation (or I missed it) that I set an appointment, but the
technician arrived promptly at the scheduled time. He assessed the
problem (a clamp holding my motor down had bent and the motor was not
engaging the flywheel), provided an estimate and said he'd have to
order the part.
A couple days later I got a call on my voicemail that
the part was in and they could come out to install it. I was busy and
forgot about it until the next day when they called again. I answered
and the guy said he could come out within 30 mins as he was in my area.
He came out. Basically, had to take the complete dryer apart to
install the part, and was finished within 45 mins. Dryer works
perfectly now.
$190 seems a bit pricey for a small metal clamp,
but 1) they did have to come all the way to Elk Grove and 2) they did
have to dissassemble the dryer twice but most importantly 3) everything
about the experience seems solid. I will use these guys again for any
large appliance repair because at this point in my life I value quality
and peace of mind over saving a few bucks.

I was so impressed with the professionalism and courtesy of the person taking my original call in the office, the pleasant and professional attitude of Dave, the serviceman. They were honest, professional, and very courteous. I was so relieved I did not have to spend a lot of money getting the machine fixed or having to buy another one!!! I would highly recommend this company, and I will definitely call them if I encounter problems with other appliances.

A1 is great. I always get a fast appointment (usually same day). Ben always arrives at the time specified. He diagnosed the problem, did a work around to enable us to continue to wash clothes, and ordered the required part. When the part arrived, all I paid for was the part. A1 only charges the service fee once.

Outstanding! The technician was so obviously good at what he did that my wife and I were trying to find other things that needed fixing. He was great about using brand new parts that had been left behind by the previous owner once he confirmed they were the right parts. He arrived on time, diagnosed the problem quickly and accurately, provided a thorough estimate before starting work, and went above and beyond to clean up the gunk and water left beneath the unit.
A-1 Appliance will be the only appliance repair company we will call if a need arises in the future.

Ben gave us an estimate, but our final cost was actually about $100 lower when they finally got the part in. The part was supposed to be in within a week to 10 days. After 2 weeks I called for a progress report and was told they'd would get back to me. No word, So I called again a few days later. I spoke with Brian who followed up and told me the appliance co. had it on back order, and they weren't able to pin the Appliance Co. down for a delivery date. Surprisingly, it came in even sooner than we'd guessed, and we set up the appointment. Ben came back on time, and it took only a short time to get it up and running again. Very neat work , cleaning up after the work including cleaning the new parts.

My microwave suddenly went dead. A1 appliance owner told me $52.00 for diagnosis and additional cost to fix the problem. I couldn't get more details about the additional costs. The technician determined that the fuse was blown. He tested the microwave with a new fuse and it worked. He said that it would cost $55 to put a new fuse in. I was surprised to hear that. I thought that was too much. I asked him if I could replace the fuse myself. He was OK with it. He was very helpful and courteous. He even left a new fuse for me to replace. I installed the fuse and put the microwave back in. The new fuse blew after a couple of uses. I bought a pack of new fuses. I noticed that fuse used to blow almost every time when I opened the door to take the food out. So it is clear to me that the problem is with the door switch. I wish the technician had determined this problem himself. I don't want to spend another $52 for diagnostic and then some for the switch.

My built in microwave stopped heating. A-1's tech, David came out and gave me an estimate. His first visit was prompt (I had asked he call before he arrived, which he did) and he is very professional. He explained the issue and I agreed on the services. His second visit to repair was only two days later since he had to wait for the part to arrive. He took his time to repair my microwave correctly and was very tidy and professional. I highly recommend their services. David is an asset to A-1 Appliance.
