I have known Dave Norris for 25 years. His son and business partner Brian was a young boy back then!
I have had several projects done by Sherwood Construction. In 2010 they did a kitchen and family room remodel. The quality was top notch. Everyone who sees the work is impressed by the form and function of our space. Thinking back to this project, I remember being particularly impressed by the way that the entire crew cleaned the worksite at the end of each day. There was never a pile of dirt anywhere, and all their tools were safely put away. It made living in the house during construction quite bearable.
Recently, we had an issue with our electrical system. I have a home warranty, so I called them first. I was very disappointed. There was no way I would let that contractor touch my house. I called Dave Norris, and he carved out the time to take care of us. It was very detailed in that we needed to upgrade our electrical panel from 125 Amps to 200 Amps. Once the city gave us the permit, Dave got started and finished within 24 hours, including the city inspection. Once again, a great job, and a clean jobsite. We have no problems with circuit breakers now!
I would never hesitate to call Sherwood for any project at my home, and I highly recommend them to anyone who needs electrical or general remodeling work.
"Receiving a mixed review of my work is always a bit disconcerting, but after reading Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s recent review of my services I feel compelled to present my side of the story. As Mrs. [Member Name Removed] wrote when she first contacted me, I responded quickly, helped them figure out that the micro-electronics in their water heater had short circuited, and extended a reduced price for my work. I also greatly appreciate that she felt my staff and I were very nice and professional. While I was able to remedy Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s main issue, they desired additional work that we mutually agreed they would contact at a later date to complete. Fast forward to this last week when I was informed of Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s review in which she stated that she tried to call me at least five times and received my voice mail. I find this curious as I have not receive any messages from the [Member Name Removed]'s as of this posting, and a review of cell statements shows the last incoming calls from the [Member Name Removed] occurring April 28, 2016 at 8:10 a.m. My returns calls to them were at 1:40 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., on the same day (the day the work was performed). I also checked my phone log in my home office and there were no entries from them. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] goes on to state that "over the course of the next week" she called me at least five times. Again I find that interesting because during the same time frame I mailed them their invoice on May 8th and received and deposited their payment on May 26th. I'm yet again curious as to why she didn't include a note saying she was trying to reach me for the additional work items? My first question is if the [Member Name Removed]'s were trying to contact me, why didn't they leave a message for me on Angie's List, text, email me directly, or call my business partner who is listed as a contact? Second, if they were so frustrated as a result of their efforts to contact me why did nearly five months pass prior to the posting of their review? I know clients do not like to be transferred to voice mail, none of us do. I also believe it is of the utmost importance to be available to your clients. That is why all my information is posted on sites like Angie's List, and I keep my cell phone with me at all times. I am not always able to take calls immediately. I might be with a client, in an attic, or have my hands in a "live" electrical panel. My clients are the reason that I have had 34 years of successful business, and they are definitely not taken for granted. I am dedicated to my clients and spend a lot of time with them. Many become part of my circle of friends and pseudo extended family. Finally, I apologize in advance if you call me and receive my voice mail, but please leave a message and I will most definitely return your call. Sincerely Dave"
Brian, the owners son & also a licensed electrician, had to remove the old and dangerous wiring and rewire about 50% the house. There was plaster repair as well as paint touch-up which was completed promptly. During the course of the work Brian saw a few things that also should be done and he was proactive in bring them up while there and offering to do them either now or at a later time.
Very easy to work with and the work is clean at the end of each day. At the end of the job, the site was clean and there were phone calls to keep us in the loop as we do not live in the house.
We can now lease the house without concern that there are electrical issues for the tenants.
We will use them again if the situation were to present itself.
We actually had to do this via long distance. Our brother had passed away and we live in Michigan- Dave would send us emails, texts and pictures to approve the "fix" or refuse it. We would go to Lowes and pick out the flooring, fixtures, etc. send him via text a picture and UPC codes: he would then go and purchase the exact items and show us via a picture the installation.
We communicated constantly with this re-do of our brother's home.
We can not rave enough about Sherwood Construction. We have already recommended them to our family and friends in California. If you are in need of a handyman or further construction, please call them. You will not be disappointed.
Such is the case with Sherwood Construction & Electric. Dave Norris & his crew
were top notch in their work to upgrade an electric service to a new panel.
They worked well to provide minimal impact to the residents of a rental house
and we would happily work with Dave in the future.
"Wow!! I am shocked by this review... I personally called (deleted member name) back in the evening on the same day, (just as he states in his review). I explained that we were working nine hours north (in Ukiah California), and I would be unable to help him with his repair, and I suggested returning to Angie's List and search for other qualified electricians. I would rather be honest with a client than promise something I cannot deliver. He seemed to understand, and did not express any frustration or disappointment. I am always concerned with my client’s (or potential client’s) needs. If I cannot service or execute their project, I am always happy to refer them to someone who is also qualified and will provide nothing but exceptional, professional service. It's not as though I had not called him back in a timely manner, or promised him a service call. Remember, his message was for a hallway lighting repair, and not a main breaker failure, or a complete power outage, which are priorities for our clients during the hot weather. Clients who have previously contracted for work also take precedence. I think it is very unfair that (deleted member name) did not take the opportunity to express his displeasure with me, since I took time to return his call personally. Also, he stated that our company profile suggests we are larger than we portray it to be. If he had fully read my profile which states that, “keeping it small is so important in this era”. My profile states that this is a family business (not two brothers). We are a father and son business, and our clients have always been the key to our many years in business. Lastly, if (deleted member name) really felt he had an emergency or an immediate need, he could have reached me on my cell phone which is listed on my profile. I am proud to say that I have two “Super Service Awards” in two years with Angie’s List, and I also have three “Page of Happiness” nominations. If you are considering calling us for your project I am always available on my cell at (951) 313-1980, and I will return your call within a 24-hour period. Sincerely Dave Norris General & Electrical Contractor"
"I am glad that the member posted a response, even though we did'nt do the work for him. I would have enjoyed doing the project. I truely hope that the work he had contracted for went well in all respects. I guess you just can't get them all!"
