I had called for several estimates from well known larger businesses in the area, as well as small contractors.  I researched online: BBB, State licensing, and the business websites.  Of the several estimates,  Safeway was lowest and had good ratings at the BBB.  The original estimate was  lower, but I had a surge arrestor added.  Even with the add on, the estimate was the lower by $500.00 over the next lowest bid.  The Safeway sales representative was courteous, efficient and quick to respond to my emails.  The estimator came on time and answered all my questions, and suggested that I not upgrade to the 200 AMP service.  Based on house requirements, the estimator  said the upgrade was not necessary at this time and that I could save money by not upgrading, just replace the entrance panel with same 100 AMP service.  However I did the upgrade as a future selling point for the house  (Safeway does not try to over sell).  On the day of installation the electricians called to say they were on the way and they arrived at the scheduled time.  I had been advised by the estimator that they would just do rough stucco finish around the panel, but they cut very little stucco and the rough finnish looked neat enough and was a close match to  the color of the house; I will just leave as is and paint at the next house painting.  The new city code called for two additional ground rods to be added to the service; I asked the electricians to run the shielded ground wire through the wall in the garage so that it would not show from the outside and they did so.  There were two electricians and they worked quickly and efficiently.  The job took about 8 hours.  The installers had no problem with my watching their work and were very friendly.  The work was finished and the house back in service on schedule.  The city inspector was late in coming and the electricians did not wait.  No money was asked for until the job was complete and the city inspector signed off on the permit.  Based on my area, the price and work was excellent;  I highly recommend Safeway, and Wayne Porter, Senior Service Electrician.
