I recently had a $650 estimate to replace the spark plugs in my 2005 Kia Sportage. I am a single woman in her 60's who just wants a fair deal. A friend told me the price I was quoted outrageous, and recommended I find a mechanic on Angie's list that was close to my home. I found several, but was most impressed when I called Michael at Protrans. After consulting the standard practice for my vehicle year, make and model, Mike gave me a quote of $285 plus tax over the phone. I made an appointment several days in advance so he could make sure he had the parts when I came in. I arrived at 8:30am, and he immediately started work on my car. Even though it took 3-1/2 hours, I had brought computer work to do. The waiting room was equipped with free WiFI, a flat screen TV, a fridge filled with bottled water, a table to work on, and comfortable chairs. I could have chosen to use Mike's shuttle service had I decided not to stay. However, it was a comfortable, quiet place. At one point, Mike came in to tell me he wanted to replace a gasket that he didn't feel comfortable reusing. He told me the additional cost was $20. The final price to me was $313 and change. It was a more than satisfactory experience in a professional, yet friendly, family environment. Next month I will take my Kia to Mike for a transmission maintenance check. I am so pleased that I have found a place where I don't feel like I am being taken advantage of.

My car would not start once I got to my workplace, so I had the car towed to ProTrans. They started working on it that day, and kept me updated throughout the day and into the next day. I've been to ProTrans before, and I've always received excellent service. I highly recommend them.

They are true professionals and very courteous at Protrans. They removed and installed new EGR valve (which was faulty) with gaskets and clean EGR tube (restricted). Also replaced PC valve and hose assmelby (worn/melted)

Spoke with Michael (Owner/Manager) about check engine light misfiring thought it could be a possible transmission problem. Protrans ran a diagnostic on my vehicle and came up with about five error codes that were all engine related. When I asked Michael the cost of the repairs he said I could be looking @ $500 to $600 dollars. which I thought was fair. I returned my vehicle the next day to Protrans on my way to work, Michael explained that he would explore error codes more and contact me with price and my ok for work to be done. When I spoke with Michael later that day he informed me that my cost would be $985 for the repairs that he quoted me $500 to $600 dollars the day before. Needless to say I went to pick-up my vehicle. After making a call to the Ford dealership I discovered that there price for what Protrans listed as work needing to be done was only $25 dollars more, plus they would update my car computer and check for any recalls on my vehicle. Use Protrans if you like but be prepared to pay dealership prices.

I spent about $50 on the most recent job. I have used them more than once. I used them for a major service the previous time. Their prices were fair. They have better warranty on their work than some. They took care of me my car when I went there. They did not take me for a ride. They gave me a fair price. I was confident that they would do the job correctly. The owner would go to the mechanic and get the answers for my multiple questions. I did not have to move from the waiting room. It was very comfortable. They had a nice waiting room and a nice bathroom. Their offices were clean, which was a testament to their work. I did not see any mess anywhere. I asked a few tough questions as well and the owner was very accommodating and very trustworthy. I asked him if there was any other work that he would recommend to be done on my car. He told me that there were a few things that the dealer had recommended that he would not recommend to be done at that time - is that refreshing or what? He could have made some money on it, but he did not. I asked him again recently, but he did not recommend any work without looking at the work done previously. The place was better than any other place I have ever been to. They give good value for the price- I will use them again in the future.
