Can not recommend them. They gave me a quote of $2500.00 to trim a large pine tree at a rental property in January, mostly to clear away branches over hanging the neighbor's house, which was reasonable. They said if we did this it would be years, ten, maybe longer, before we needed to do it again. They agreed to do part of the work in January and to come back late in the year, when the weather, was cold to finish. Paid them $1500.00 for the partial work, the balance when they returned to finish. In March, some branches started drooping. The tenant was concerned they might break and cause some damage. Called MTC and asked for a confirming estimate and photos before starting work to remove those branches. Didn't get either. I called twice more on different days asking for these and was promised they would be supplied. MTC claimed they had texted photos and estimate, but turned out they sent it to my wife's cell phone. However, after checking it, there was nothing from MTC. They then promised to send it to me via e-mail. By March 12, the day work was to occur, still nothing, so called again. MTC claimed they sent both twice the day before, but this was never received. Then I was told they wanted another $3500.00 for the work, above the $1500 already spent. Had I been given that estimate I would never have agreed to it, but they started work without authorization, and my agreeing to the new figure. When I demanded they stop, they basically refused, saying the workers were already there. This is absolutely improper. No proper business would have commenced work without agreement and authorization. No work should have been done without checking to confirm I received the estimate and agreed to it. When I complained, which I did vociferously, got all kinds of excuses, e.g., this was a different job, despite the fact that they previously represented the tree would not need trimming for another ten years when they quoted the $2500.00 original price, for which they clearly contemplated a thorough and complete trim and thinning. When confronted with that, then offered the excuse the office supervisor miscommunicated with the field supervisor, my recollection was bad, the branches were heavy, etc. But I had taken notes when the price was quoted in January and had all the figures given me then. They also did some work in January at my home. Damaged some things they did not tell me about and which I discovered later. I will not ever use them again. Other services may be marginally more expensive, but at least I get quotes and figures in advance that those services stick to. Judge for yourself whether you should use them. Ed XXXX
