One of their sales reps, Brodie, knocked on my door offering a $99 special for a pest control service of my choice. I usually decline, but he said they could do a one-time service with no contract—exactly what I was looking for. I told him the specific issue I needed handled, he wrote it down on his iPad, and the next day someone came out and performed the service. They charged me the $99 and I thought that was the end of it. Shortly after, I had to leave town for a family emergency. When I came back, I noticed the same pest issue was still there. I remembered they said if the problem persisted, they’d come out again at no charge. I called, and they sent someone—but that’s when things got worse. The technician told me the service done (and the one he was about to do) had nothing to do with the issue I originally requested. Apparently, I was signed up for a basic subscription instead of the specific service I clearly told Brodie I wanted. And to top it off, the service I did request supposedly comes with a “hefty” extra charge. I called their main office and explained the mix-up. The woman I spoke to said she’d look into it. I gave her a week. No response. When I followed up, she told me I needed to talk to Brodie. I explained that the issue now involved charges and a service I didn’t agree to—this is clearly something a manager should handle. Brodie could be there, but I needed someone in charge to fix the problem. Then I noticed they charged me another $50 on June 17 for a subscription I never asked for. I called again today, and they told me they’ve now canceled the subscription—but I’m still out $150 for a service I didn’t ask for, a subscription I never agreed to, and no refund in sight after a month and a half of back-and-forth. This is hands down the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with. It’s dishonest, and it feels like a scam. Charging someone for something they never agreed to, refusing to fix the mistake, and then ignoring refund requests is not just bad business—it’s theft.

Extremely disappointed for the lack of communication from AKELA. Not servicing my home for 5 months and they all of the sudden they want to schedule a visit and charge extra $100 for cancelling the service. I can’t wait 5 months without a single word from AKELA Pest Control. I had to hire another pest control providers to service my home on time on a quarterly basis. Stay away from this company and look for someone else.
