Everything went pretty much as expected. Everyone was friendly, responsive, and professional. The job was done on about the promised time frame and about the estimated job duration. The completed roof looks good. Satisfied with the job. Their bid was not the cheapest bid, however they seemed to be the most professional and gave the perception of high quality. Their initial bid included an initial estimate for dry rot repair (other bids included no initial estimate). However, additional dry rot was found during the re-roof so there was additional time and material cost for the additional dry rot repair. This added roughly $1K to the total cost.

Landreth did the first roof inspection and told me that not enough nails had been used on the roof and that it couldn't be repaired, so I would need a new $10k roof installed. I got a second opinion from another contractor that showed me pictures of shingles that had been forcibly pulled up and the nails had been pulled through the shingles. Everyone else involved, my Realtor and the sellers Realtor agreed that the second opinion was more trustworthy and that something shady was going on with Landreth. Roof was repaired and certified by another roofer.

"[Member Name Removed], we have been doing roof inspections for 35 of our 37 years that we have had our business in the small town of Ripon. We are concerned about your allegation of dishonesty and take it seriously. We look at the roofs from a buyer's perspective, no matter if our client is the buyer or seller, so there will be no problems after they buy the house. Therefore, with that said, we still stand by our report on the roof in question. The roof was not nailed correctly with the nails in the wrong area of the shingle and also not enough nails in each shingle. We call this because if a buyer has a problem after escrow has closed, the manufacturer will not stand behind their warranty as it must be applied as per their specifications. "On the Job Estimate it was clearly stated that before we did the work, a plumber was to be contacted to have the water lines attached to the hot water heater and the lines drained, as [Member's name removed] also stated. He did the work and it would be his responsibility. There is no way we can be responsible for others work, which we would presume was done correctly. If there is any culpability, it would be between him and the plumber he paid $100.00 to check if he did correctly. We are sorry for this happening to him, but we did the work we were contracted to do and were paid in full by[Member's name removed] We apologize for the late response, but we were only made aware of this complaint when getting on Angies List yesterday."

Landreth was very gracious and sent someone out right away, and owner came out the very next day to do an inspection. The foreman showed up right when he said he was going to, and explained to me exactly what he was going to do. He worked very quickly and was done within an hour or so. I was very pleased with work work and the response from Landreth Roofing. They were very customer service oriented, I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a roofing service!
