This was by far my worst experience with a contractor I selected based on an Angie's List recommendation -- I wish I'd read the Yelp reviews of Merry Maids of Richmond instead. (If you are reading this review, I strongly urge you to do so: they have a 2.5 star rating out of 5).
The initial estimate seemed fine -- expensive, but I assumed I was paying for quality. That was a big mistake.
Much of the cleaning was unremarkable. Good enough, but certainly not better than my usual (solo) cleaning person. The attention to detail wasn't great; e.g., the floor underneath objects like cabinets was not well-cleaned. But the real problems were:
- Did not do all of the services that were specified -- and paid for -- by the contract (e.g., oven cleaning).
- Left my new tile grout dirtier than it had been before they arrived. Fortunately, my usual person was able to (mostly) deal with this.
- Bent one of my new window screens!
The latter problem, in particular, should have been communicated to me. They knew they did it and I got the clear impression I simply wasn't told in the hope I wouldn't notice.
I would have complained about all of these things... but no one from the company ever followed up with me to see how the job had gone. Instead, I'm here to warn anyone who relies on Angie's List that I DO NOT recommend Merry Maids of Richmond. DO NOT be fooled by the positive reviews!
