TED'S MASTER ANTENNA

Awesome all around!   The installation went well and I am very pleased to have a professionally installed roof antenna.

He explained the reception is fantastic because it comes directly from Mount Wilson and not through miles and miles of cable. The TV picture on the major channels is so clear, even clearer than when I had Fios cable.
He is extremely knowledgeable, polite, and a good worker.
I would recommend him in a heart beat!

After years of skyrocketing cable bills, I decided to "cut the cord" and go with OTA reception. I wanted a rooftop antenna for the easiest and most dependable service, but antenna installers are hard to find these days. Ted's Master Antenna was featured in an article in the L.A. Times during the digital transition, so I decided to give the company a try. Ted has been in the business for many years and it was immediately clear that he has a wealth of expertise. I had originally wanted a larger antenna so that I could get absolutely everything, but he talked me into a smaller unit, and it works perfectly - I get all the local channels and digital sub channels with perfect reception. The installation was quick, professional and punctual. A month later, I received a follow-up call from Ted to make sure everything was working properly. The cost seemed a little high, but in truth, I will recoup it in just four months without cable. I would recommend Ted highly for any antenna need.

Ted quoted me $350 for a TV antenna including installation. Because I live in a canyon area, I agreed to pay him $45 for the visit to evaluate. He had a tentative appointment but was supposed to call that morning but never did. I called about 2 days later. He had an explanation but expressed no apology. About a week or two later when we were arranging for the visit, he told me he wanted $100. I hesitated and told him I needed to think about it. Then he said he'd do it for $75 which I was still not comfortable with as it seemed odd that he could change his price so quickly but not honor the original $45 agreed to. He then called me back an hour later and said he was going to be in the area and he'd stop by for free. So, I agreed. When he arrived, he proposed to drill holes in my hardwood flooring rather than run the wiring through the walls "because it was easier and besides that's what all cable companies do" is how he explained it. I was not comfortable with that. Then he proceeded to look for a place to run the wiring into my house. He suggested running it through the mesh of my crawl space. However, I knew that it would look unsightly but worse yet, cutting a hold in the mesh would allow rodent intrusion. I told him no. In my mind, it would be better to drill a small hole through my stucco wall and to seal the point of entry with caulking. He seemed a bit displeased and started getting a bit agitated. At this point, with the fresh memory of how he had tried to get money out of me and kept changing how much he wanted and his indifference to a neat and orderly installation, I asked him to leave. He left with somewhat of an attitude. Glad I told him to leave.

Installation was timely and done properly. Ted is a genial person and easy to deal with.

Ted and his assistant arrived promptly the same morning that I called them and did the work described above in an efficient and professional manner. Although when they came out, they didn't know if this would be a repair or replacement job. They had a new antenna on their truck and were able to install it when it was determined that the old one could not be repaired.
