West Bay Heating & Sheet Metal
About us
I am an owner/operator with over 40 years experience in all phases of residential and small commercial heating,air-conditioning and sheetmetal work.I am on all my jobs from start to finish. My main focus for jobs is residential ,although I do some small commercial work. I work with contractors on many projects, but prefer to work directly with homeowners. It makes for better communication and understanding about what is needed and what is expected of me. I started in the trade when it encompassed much more than heating and air-conditioning. So I am skilled in all aspects of sheetmetal fabrication, ductwork , ventwork ,architectural flashings ,roof flashings ,gutters and downspouts. I am licensed (ca. lic,.# 378639) bonded and insured to $1,000,000. I do not charge for estimates within 20 miles of my shop (redwood city). I provide Senior discounts (65 or older). .I am open to unique and interesting projects of all kinds. I enjoy making planter boxes and other projects out of copper ,brass ,and stainless steel.I am a proficient welder in most metals and can do some on site welding.

"thanks for the review.although I,m curious about the "B"rating on quality. If it refers to the furnace I have to say this. ALL the furnaces are the same. one company wanting to install a carrier will tell you his furnace is better than another brand, say tempstar.they are the same furnace;identical.I just wanted to use this space to make people aware that many untruths are said by people trying to sell their product. If it,s not about furnace quality but job quality, nevermind."
He arrived 15 minutes early which was fine as early or on time is always appreciated. In this case, we were getting ready for his arrival as our furnace is in the cellar and the access door is in the kitchen. My husband explained that we just had the kitchen floor refinished and the flooring company strongly advised us to only wear socks for a while. He just needed 2 minutes to put down the precut contractor paper in the kitchen for Steve to walk on.
Steve must have misunderstood and removed his work boots while my husband was rolling out the paper and Steve walked into the kitchen area. When my husband asked him to help lift up the trap door he put his work boots on our kitchen breakfast table! These are filthy, covered in basement and street crud work boots that he just sat on our eating area. I walked into the kitchen and spotted the boots and was so stunned it took me a moment to say anything. When I immediately pointed out that his boots did not belong on our very nice and clean kitchen table as that is an eating area, he just shrugged, put them back on and went down into the cellar. No apology, no sense of embarrassment or even a sense of respect for our home.
He didn't provide a business card, did not want to go into the crawl space to evaluate the vent pipe and rushed our appointment to get to his other job.
We have worked with dozens of contractors doing major home improvements over the last 6 years and have never had such a disrespectful experience. Steve may be great at working with furnaces but he made a horrible first impression and we won't be doing business with him.
"I would not want to work for these people under any circumstances.my boots were clean and i set them downon top of the papers i had in my hand.I didnt need to crawl into the space to see what was needed.I was going to e-mail them that i didnt have time to do the work, but i see i dont need to.people talk about the contractors from hell, but never see themselves as being a problem.im surprised they didnt have me strip down and put on a full body floor protector.just wanted out of there."
"hello.I didnt do this job.looked at it and decided i wasnt familiar enough with the unit.Gave him the name and number of someone elsed and wished them well.I believe this review is for whomever fixed the unit."
"a post script.I did not put my boots back on before going into the cellar.put them on in the cellar.if youre going to do a rant,do it truthfully."
"thank you much member."
