He was very good.  It went fine.  He was quite a nice guy.  He was very responsive; he came right away.  He was reasonably priced.

Professional demeanor, very prompt.  Went right to work, answered my ancillary questions and had it figured out within 40 minutes on his first visit.  My 20 year old furnace required a part only available from the factory, but he got it over-nighted and had it in hand the next morning and my furnace was working by 11 am. 

He was very good at explaining what he was doing and why. I felt very comfortable that he would do his best to help me get my problem fixed.  I also appreciated that he was willing to come on the weekend when many other heater repair services were not willing to come. 

I called Steve and explained what we needed and scheduled an appointment for a quick evaluation and estimate for repairs.  He was very pleasant on the phone and discussed the details of our project with good feedback.  He indicated that he was very busy and would need to come early the following week before heading out to another job site.  We planned it for 8:30 a.m.
He arrived 15 minutes early which was fine as early or on time is always appreciated.  In this case, we were getting ready for his arrival as our furnace is in the cellar and the access door is in the kitchen.  My husband explained that we just had the kitchen floor refinished and the flooring company strongly advised us to only wear socks for a while.  He just needed 2 minutes to put down the precut contractor paper in the kitchen for Steve to walk on.
Steve must have misunderstood and removed his work boots while my husband was rolling out the paper and Steve walked into the kitchen area.  When my husband asked him to help lift up the trap door he put his work boots on our kitchen breakfast table!  These are filthy, covered in basement and street crud work boots that he just sat on our eating area.  I walked into the kitchen and spotted the boots and was so stunned it took me a moment to say anything.  When I immediately pointed out that his boots did not belong on our very nice and clean kitchen table as that is an eating area, he just shrugged, put them back on and went down into the cellar.  No apology, no sense of embarrassment or even a sense of respect for our home.
He didn't provide a business card, did not want to go into the crawl space to evaluate the vent pipe and rushed our appointment to get to his other job.
We have worked with dozens of contractors doing major home improvements over the last 6 years and have never had such a disrespectful experience.  Steve may be great at working with furnaces but he made a horrible first impression and we won't be doing business with him.

My husband wanted a min-split ac and heat pump unit in his new office.  Because we only have 110V electricity in the office our options for mini split systems were limited.  We researched on-line and found what we wanted and then called Steve Ortiz at West Bay to come to our house, see the installation area and discuss our research.  Steve was great!  He's willing to work with us and TOTALLY satisfy our issues and needs--on the mini split system and other heating/furnace issues.  He worked with the system we bought on-line. His prices are more than reasonable.  We're thrilled to have found him.

Arrived on time.  Replaced the thermocouple.  Pilot light still would not stay lit.  Did some tests. Needed a new part.  Returned the next day with the part, repaired the furnace and left.  Friendly, explained what the problem was and fixed it.

called about my furnace, he was driving and showed up within 15 minutes.  He looked at the furnace and had it working in ten minutes.  He charged me nothing even though I offered to pay.  He is great and the service was great.

It was a big installation of a new thing. My old one was terrible and never worked right for the last 10 years and I was sick of it. He came in and diagnosed the problem.  Another company had come to change the furnace and they did a poor job and he pointed it out to me.  Where they were supposed to put sheet metal they put tape. Once the heater went on it would blow hot air in the crawl space. It was great for all the critter but it was not good for me. So Steve came in and he had to fabricate a new piece which they failed to do. He put in a new compressor which wouldn't work anymore. I am going to ask him do some upstairs work as well.  He works and when he is on a job site I can't speak to him so I leave him a message.  He gets back to me when I call him.  He was very punctual. He showed up exactly at the right time.

It was on time and on budget, they came when they said, they finished with in the allotted time.  I noticed some condensation around the heater and he came right out to examine it. I was re-leaved to find out that it was not a furnace problem but I am happy to know that he stands by his work. The price was very good and competitive.

He did not charge me because it was just a simple electrical that came separated. He came after work on 100 degree weather and fixed it. He is just really outstanding in air-conditioning, heating and sheeting. I use him all the time and think that he is just really outstanding. I am also just about ready to use him to put in a new air-conditioner. I would tell other members that he knows his work. If I had venting or heating put in I have had no worries what so ever because he totally knows his job. He is also a super kind person.

He is just outstanding. It was just pushing together the two connection points of the fuse and it was such a small thing that he didn't charge us. He can't improve on anything, he is outstanding. I've used him for heating, AC, sheet metal and he's been outstanding - I can't recommend him enough. He really, really knows his business. I just called him for more service.

Steve Ortiz is outstanding. He does everything from a small job to a multi-million dollar home, with three different units. He does heating systems and custom sheet metal work, along with installation and replacement of air conditioning units. He also does copper roofs and gutters. He can customize and make things, as per your request. I used him to pull out old floor heaters and put in new heaters. I have used him for air conditioning units. I also know that he can do very high-end homes. He can get customized gutter work done. He can do multi-stations of heating and air in one home alone. He is very nice and very professional. His prices are good. You can leave a slow message for him. If you deal with gas and heating, then you don?t have to worry about him. He knows his stuff. He was referred to me by other contractors. He is very fair and highly recommended. I don?t even have to check his work; he is that good. I have been using him for several projects, over the years. He has a done a lot of work for me. If I have any problems, he will come out and fix them for me. He is very qualified. I?ll definitely use him again in the future.
